Re: Billy Bonds, the Guardian .. and me
Swiss, this isn't about whether Bonds was better or not as good as player XY or Z, its about what the bloke represented to the people who watched him every week. Moore, Brooking, Devonshire, Di Canio etc all outshone him on a technical level and were far more skillful players. But do a survey of fa...

Fuck me, that is a totally unsurpassed level of ignorance even by your exceedingly low standards.

Re: The Ashes.
Massive pressure on England now thanks mainly to the debacle in Perth. The Gabba test was always going to be the most unlikely of all the games that we could win but its now gone beyond vital that we somehow win. Had we played properly in Perth, the likelihood would have been going to Adelaide 1-1 w...

Sad news, 62 is still middle aged these days.
Played in the same Hampshire side as Gordon Greenidge and Malcolm Marshall.

Re: King Billy
Been thinking a lot about what he meant to us and the reasons why. For me, it goes beyond football, even beyond the club. His time with us was a permanent reminder of a different time and way of life and a much different East End. My pride in my ( Limehouse,Poplar,Stepney) roots is absolute and unsh...

Tak. You probably already know it but if not, the 'stick to cricket' podcast is a great listen. Bumble, Sir Alastair, Tuffers and Michael Vaughn with a guest now and again. One of those rare things that you don't need to be a cricket fan to enjoy it. And if you are a fan of the game, they revive some...

Re: West Ham vs Liverpool | PL | 28.11.25 | Predictions and Match Thread
Going to be really honest here and say that I don't know if I should pity or applaud anyone who still cares passionately about this club. On the day when a man who sweated blood for 21 years on the pitch playing for us passed, the current lot looked as though they really couldn't give less of a fuc...

Re: King Billy
For so long he was the beating heart of our club. I've said before that far more talented players have worn our shirt but not one player had the heart and commitment of Bill. Genuinely sad day. The first real hero of mine and though there have been others, no one will ever come close to being as sp...

HC.
Strange one isn't it. I can only think of Jota (rip) and TAA who went to Madrid. Other than those two,its the same squad that one the league six months ago. Would have made a lot more sense had this current debacle happened at the start of Slots first season.

Never been a better time to play them, they are in dissaray right now. However, as West Ham fans, we all know that they will re start their season with a thumping win.
That's what my logical head is telling me.
The romantic fool in me believes it'll be a 2-2 thriller.

The attempted de banking of Farage a couple of years ago should serve as a massive clue as to the fear of him held by the establishment and this latest escapade, trying to present him as an Adolf for the 21st century should be laughed at. Who knows if and what sort of leader he'll be but seeing him...

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
I remember being at school in the 70's and there were plenty of distasteful jokes told about Nazis and the Jews. Did we know it was distasteful? Were we wishing more death and misery on Jewish people. No,it was 1972 and we were 12 years old ffs. All this nonsense is a measure of the sheer desperatio...

Re: Bands whose first album was quite different from subsequent material
Very obvious example is Dylan.
As for Genesis, i much prefer their less sucsessful period prior to the band becoming a trio. As for Collins, his first two solo albums were superb.
Springsteens first album was an absolute word salad, his writing became far less complicated as time went on.
