The Championship

Very much a 3-horse race for the 2 automatic promotion spots between Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield United, one teams fans are going to be gutted they don't make it especially seeing how far ahead of the pack all 3 are, but at least they will have the play off opportunity and would imagine be hot favorites to go up that way.

Sunderland look nailed on for 4th, then a decent gap to 4 teams vying for 5th and 6th currently Middlesbrough and Bristol City, but these positions change weekly, WBA and Coventry held them last weekend!

Leeds and Burnley to get the Automatic promotion, would love to see Bristol City get the play off place but realistically its going to be Sunderland or Sheffield United.

Mind you whomever comes up is almost nailed on to go back down such is the gap between the 2 divisions now, will need a PL team to really turn to shit to see any change IMO, then expect the likes of Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich to be near or at the top of the Championship and coming back up to replace the 3 new boys from 2025 in 2026!

Mathematically, six teams are still in the race for the last two places in the playoffs. Fuck the the MATH Swansea are too far gone on GD and should not  be in the EFL being from Wales and all that technical shite

I notice looking at how the table in panning out and the last few rounds of matches that are fixing up, we could potentially see a WHU Academy Manager Derby of sorts developing between Lampard vs Carrick - Coventry v Middlesbrough last game of the season to see who gets the last spot for the play-offs...

Luton v Coventry
Middlesbrough v Norwich
Coventry v Middlesbrough

The Footballing God's are having a bit of fun with that situation now materialising.

If Burnley can carry on their amazing defensive performances they will be okay.

If you can keep clean sheets in the PL you will do well.

Leeds and Burnley up then.
I'd love to go to Leeds next season, got few mates up there.

A good chance either of those clubs could stay up at our expense next season, if we keep Potter in charge.
Quite sure Potter will have given Sullivan a shopping list. What Sullivan does with that list, however, will define next season.

Suspect Potter doesn't relish the squad going to the US for some of their pre-season though; needs to get some proper game time in for the players, not sell shirts.

Watched a bit of Burnley’s game
Scott Parker has zipped his anorak up too high to see if his 5th successive win of Tie-pin Wearer Of The Year is deserved

If these 2 come up they’ll be straight down again

This league is mental. All the teams placed 4-7 lost to give Millwall an outside chance of promotion. Four out of the bottom six won, with the other two drawing.

I’ve just seen Scott Parker being interviewed on ITV he must have used about fifteen football based cliches in one sentence.

Sunderland have had their chances …. and are too far away
Coventry coming up would be a great achievement. Hopefully we could relegate them & their arrogant prick of a manager
Sheffield Utd? Enough said
Yea fair enough, nothing against Bristol City coming up, but it wouldn't be because we have one loanee player there. I couldn't care less about the mackerns really, just feel a bit of a connection after watching and enjoying the Netflix shows. But yea anyone but Sheff Utd, really.

Happy to see Leeds come back and to see how Parker gets on.

Obviously would love it if Bristol City make it
Fat Frank getting Coventry up would be a massive story though
Not going to look it up but I think the side finishing third have come up a few times in recent years.

I assume you would love Bristol City to come up just based on us having one loanee there, very sweet, but nowhere near enough reason for me. Would prefer the Mackerns, but as you say Cov and fatso coming up would be a good story, but then again there is Richard Keys :-)

In an ideal scenario  Leeds Utd / Mackems and Wall are the three  promoted clubs.
Coventry city/Wurzels would liven things up a bit too.
Wall now  ruled out I think after their tonking at Blackburn Rovers ...
Burnley being  promoted again is underwhelming, although I like the club and their supporters a lot.

Please god not West Bromwich fooking Albion ...the liberal democrats of footy

Should be a cracking play -offs

It's the European shit on a Thursday that fucks it all up. Otherwise you could have seven matches Friday/Monday and three games filling in the Saturdays and Sundays for TV

The PL should do it, would be good. No doubt it's about money/tv though.

One thing I miss about the Championship… games on Good Friday & Easter Monday
Always used to be a turning point in the season if you could get a couple of wins

Leeds matching Burnley and both 5 pts clear of Sheff Utd who LOSE at Plymouth
Plymouth still last but in striking distance of safety with 4 games left
