Just been announced that Josh Hazlewood will miss the first test due to start in Perth next Friday. This is a big blow to the Australians as they will already be without their captain and no.1 pace bowler Pat Cummins.

Englands preparations for the tour has been questioned by many as they have opted to play no warm up games aside from a one off against the English lions. 

Many are saying that its crucial that we get of to a good start in Perth which basically means we cant afford to lose seeing as the 2nd test in Brisbane is a day/night game ( fucking ridiculous) where the Aussies are strongly fancied.

Looking forward to this now but really unsure of how it will play out, I guess I'd still make them slight favourites due to home advantage. Going to be a few all nighters in the coming weeks for me, let's hope it'll be worth it.

I predict the Aussies will be batting first whoever wins the toss. 

Our top order is a worry. If the top 3 can at least scratch together 80 odd runs with Root, Brook and Stokes to follow with some full on bazz ball we can get big scores. If they keep fit our pace attack should be enough. Look what Bumrah did. 

Gotta win in Perth. I'll doubt it will be a draw.

Understand the last 3 or 4 years has seen the Kookaburra have a more prominent seam & an extra coat of lacquer 
Has meant it swings more & for longer
Bumrah seemed to like it last summer

Thats how they appeared v the Lions last week and will in a 2 day pink ball game v Prime Minister’s XI before the 2nd Test

I heard that the kookaburra ball has changed and is more similar to the Duke ball now with a bigger seam. Is that true. I heard it was because they weren't getting enough results in the Sheffield Shield games. We should have taken Jimmy again for one last trip.

Madness over in India. Chasing a modest 127, the home team managed to still lose by 30 runs. The final over went 466WW, this after 77 balls without a boundary. Well done South Africa but they were really let out of jail in this one. 

I see England aren’t playing any Aussi state teams this tour. However England never did in tours in 70s and before.

Khawaja Wetherald Labuschagne Smith Head Green Carey Starc  Dogget Lyon Boland
Very harsh on Beau Webster who made 78 today & took 5 wickets last week.
Alternative is Labuschagne opening instead of Wetherald, Green at 3 & Webster at 6
Or leaving Lyon out if the pitch looks lively 

Personally I don’t think Khawaja will last the series and will be replaced by Renshaw at some point or the long term replacement Kellaway 

England look likely to go without a recognised spinner … on the basis that none exist

Day 2 of the India/ South Africa test has just finished (bad light). Low scoring game and whilst Jadeja has bowled very well, some of the batting from the Saffa's has been abysmal. They are 60 odd in front with 3 wickets left. This'll be done in 3 days, possibly 2.5.

His grandparents on his mothers side were from Calabria & migrated to Australia after the war 
His state career was over so he decided to qualify for Italy as a tribute to his brother who had recently died
For an Italian team to qualify for a cricket tournament is unheard of

England surely have to win that first test to stand a chance.

Obviously England need to bat better than in previous series in Australia as they’ve never been able to put any pressure on and their bowlers haven’t had time to rest
Root averages 35 in Australia 
Stokes & Crawley average 28 & Pope 11
Duckett, Brook, Bethel & Smith have never played a Test in Australia
The new guys have to adapt quickly & the others need a big improvement 

Hazlewood has been very injury prone over the last few years so no surprise. Think he is one of a few that have stayed on to finish up in Tests in this series …. Hazlewood Starc Lyon Khawaja & probably Smith
Opportunity for Brendon Doggett though who is a similar stump to stump bowler like Scott Boland.
Shame that the quickest bowler Lance Morris is injured but see Jhye Richardson is now fit to play for Australia A against the Lions
Might see him later & maybe Fergus O’Neill though suspect he is more suited to English condition (Ashes 2027?)
Despite all the talk of the ageing team there is a group of talents from the u19 World Cup winners of a few years ago that need a couple of Sheffield Shield seasons before taking over

Have absolutely no idea how this series will pan out. Might depend on which bowling line up stays on the park or breaks down 

Seems crazy that a batsman of Roots class  has a top score of 89 in 3 test series's over there. Hopefully, that all changes over the next couple of months  

Think this could be the closest series over there for a good long while vital we don’t lose the first test and hopefully Joe root gets some early runs as it’s well documented his average isn’t the best in Australia.
