Rumours circulating on FB that he's not too good at the moment and in hospital, not sure how true they are.

A good idea.
Agreed, but Bills much more than that, he’s probably the only thing that could bring the whole of East London together, Charlton, Millwall and us above all.

My legend in Superstars, when the commentators kept being amazed at his ability to not be beaten.
Was he in that? I thought Brain Budd dominated that.
Brian Jacks was who you’re thinking of, machine. Yep I remember Bill being on the program, not a lot like some other sports people. TV is shit now ain’t it?

Kal , Lato , 1 BB , I was there too in the middle of the North Bank , he scored a couple right in front of us sparking wild surges .
Seem to remember only a couple of blue & white scarves being waved in the whole ground when the rent boys came out .
Get well soon King Billy !

When football was football...now there is far too much expectation for the money that is spent in the first place and to be honest it's just not as much fun anymore is it?

Billy always gave the impression that just to be on the pitch and getting paid to play football for a living was the biggest thrill of his life and those vibes he conveyed to us made him a legend.

I've never met any other fans who disliked him...even up north when they called us southern softies and the like they were always in awe of Bill and would end any slagging of us with "except him"

We played Wolves in the cup about 10 years ago, I was in one the lounges after the game with my two boys when Bill came in , I tried to explain the presence of greatness and showed them them front page of the Programme with Bonzo lifting the cup. Everyone in the room was in awe ‘Bill, would you mind a photo’? Suddenly there was a queue

Lato.

I was there as well. Didn't he get presented with Evening Standard player of the month/year before kick off?  Sure it was the 73/74 season.

KAL wrote: 28 Nov 2025, 10:47 As a 13 - 14 year old I saw him score a hat trick against Chelsea at Upton Park. One of my favourite West Ham memories, and that includes 2 FA cups, a league cup final (and replay) and a CWC final. Billy was a constant in that lot. What a servant of the club. We are lucky to have had some true legends playing for us but Billy Bonds doesn’t have to look up to any of them.
I was at that game to in West side lower tier. Billy was everywhere that day he must have covered every blade of grass. Flying into tackles like only Bonzo could. And of course scoring a hqt trick!

My Dads all time hero. He even looked like him when he was younger. He was in Chislehurst a few years back, and stopped at the crossing to let somebody cross, and it was none other than Billy himself.

My old man stuck his head out of the window, and gestured to Billy, who told him to pull into a car park opposite to have a chat. They talked for a while, my dad told him he was his hero, Billy said about the OS and how he doesn’t really like it, and it will never be home. Finally as they were going their separate ways, Billy said he had some bad news for my dad. He’d now have to pay to get out of the car park 😀.

They are probably the same age, so it will really hit home for him. All the best, Billy.
