"I use to think the same about stuff like Batman, but the 3 Batman films with Christian Bale are fucking superb."

Tenet is amazing visually. But the story is too much of a mess.

"master - I won't be going anywhere near it, can spot it's a car crash from a fucking mile away. Apart from the Batman trilogy has Nolan ever done anything that great?"

"Returned to the cinema today to see Tenet. It's an intelligent action film which, while being rather grounded for a Nolan production, has your brain ticking away to keep a handle on the time-twisting elements. Great set pieces, solid understated practical effects and a story that keeps you hooked as it canters along. The performances are good and likeable with perhaps the exception of Kenneth Branagh hamming it up with his version of Boris the Blade. However... the sound mixing is fucking dreadful. Maybe it's a method to make the film ""uncertain"" but what you get is background noise and a thumping soundtrack drowning out the dialogue for well over half the film. And given that this is a concept movie, exposition and reinforcement is needed for a lot of it. But the exposition is generally mumbled and then buried under everything else. By the end of the film you're actually laughing at the lack of clarity. Assuming it's deliberate (I've had a look at other reviews and it's not Cineworld Harlow fucking things up, which was our initial suspicion), it's just bizarre as it drags the film down. I'm looking forward to it appearing online with some fucking subtitles. Anyway, nice that another part of life has rebooted. And strangely enough with a film that makes wearing a mask feel a tiny bit like you're joining in with the story."

Saw The Rental last night. Good psychological thriller. Ending a bit weak and leaves some questions.

"Manuel 5:06 Wed Aug 26 Safe House is a good film. Anyone seen the sequel to ""Inside Man""? The first one was good. Saw a couple of oddish ones last couple of nights. First was ""The Pledge"" with Jack Nicholson. Second was ""Under Suspicion"" with Hackman and Freeman. Both quite ""arty"" and not quite what I expected. Both have great acting but not worth watching if you don't like slow moving films."

Watched Rogue last night. Another extraction-action movie with the still hot Megan Fox. Was OK and the adding the man eating lion to the usual baddies made it fun.

Watched Gemini Man with Will Smith. Enjoyable enough but what's all this anti ageing stuff all about? Looks absolutely awful. This along with god awful CGI is ruining movies.

"MMG - you reminded me, I actually watched that as well recently. Really enjoyed it. I think Christian Bale is a very decent actor but did struggle with his accent at times. 8.5/10"
