Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

All roads lead to Hermansen.? Bringing in his ex coaches is a lot cheaper than Suzuki. Parama ain't letting him go without a stupid price. They want another season from him. Then sell him on to one of the Italian big boys. For a price north of 50 million.

As usual we'll get all the players desperately needed in the last 10 days of August and it will take until January to get them all up to speed together. The ancient, experienced ones with far too many war wounds won't get up to speed at all but hey, when has that ever mattered?

The usual shit show then 🙄

Sullivan has confirmed this morning we're only after one keeper. So the Brazilian is either the cheap option, or a bargaining chip to lower the prices elsewhere.

Sounds like he's got a release clause that we went in just below...suspect that shows we don't truly want him given for a very small amount more they'd have had to sell him to us, and we're more interested in being seen to be in talks with them.

Kind of hoping for Suzuki, but he pushes the ball out rather than holding it A LOT.  Very good on crosses though.

I reckon the FA would love nothing better than Paqueta being  sold. Be a case of. Nothing to see here.!

We just have to hope the Paqueta talk is just that...talk. Wouldn't surprise me if Pep.still had a hard-on for him though.

He's shown in his preseason appearances a notable return to form....being at the heart of everything when on the pitch, and he's still only 27, and Premier League proven.

Quite possible even with other reinforcements Pep could decide 'that's my guy'.

If I was West Ham, they'd lay a City tax and the "original deal" was all that was on offer.....85m, cash up front, take it or leave it. That would be fair to Paqueta, and could be acceptable.

Less than that....tell them to fuck off.

What. A bit like. Not selling Rice and Paq in the same window.? You know the dwarf is starting up the motor. If a offer comes in.

We’ve been linked to over 300 players this summer, it’s purely click bait.

Things will happen, it’s just waiting for the initial spark and then the fire starts.

Was reading that Mateus Fernandes of Southampton (& his agent) prefers a move to Europe
We seem to be going around the houses with midfielders & keepers. Lots of names mentioned , no movement

He’s had quite a few injuries for a keeper, which is a bit worrying. At 29, he’s played a handful of games with only one full season.

Some nonsense about clubs offering £30m for Paqueta
That the going rate for a first choice Brazilian international at his peak?
Needs to stay & pay us back for the last two seasons

Elliot is a good player but too expensive & not sure positionally he is what we need.
Liverpool should be offering him in part exchange for Isak
We need a box to box midfielder who can win the ball plus another with some creativity (Fernandes from Southampton? El Khannous from Leicester?)

Unless City offer 70m think we should keep Paq this season and see how he plays without the FA monkey on his back

Lyon in for Morton. 15m. The talks of him and Elliot soon dried up quick!

If we got 85m for him from Man City, I'd be happy him. He deserves a bigger club and the freedom to play in a good footballing side. Sadly even if we got 150m for him I don't think we'd spend it well and ever be better off, so I hope he stays.

we’ve spent a third of the kudus money and can’t seem to sign anyone else so there’s absolutely no point in trying to bring in anymore money
No doubt in my mind Sullivan would try to replace him with a has been like Grealish
If we sell the second of our best 3 players it’s gonna be curtains
They’ve just signed Reijnders, I don’t see them wanting Paqueta as well.
I hope not
There’s a few articles out there now saying they’ve made it clear they’re still interested in him

Very true, it's been a good pre-season overall so far in that respect. Generally happy with what I've seen. 👍
Still plenty of time for Sullivan to fuck it up by cutting corners or going rogue in the transfer market.

And I don't blame them. Afterall, it's only what GSB did themselves when a Club is at rock bottom, so takes one to know one.

Sir Alf" wrote: 01 Aug 2025, 16:57 Sully going for the cheap option. Supports the rumour that he thinks Potter and Macaulay’s targets are too expensive.

“Trust in Sullivan” because thats worked so well these last 15 years. “First class team for a first class stadium”.  Actually thinking about it, we have got the right squad / team for that stadium. “Half baked”, “ramshackle” are words that come to mind.

As expected with Sullivan back in charge of recruitment ( because its him calling the shots ultimately) we are 2 weeks away from a new season and the mess,  he alone created by insisting against all advice to appoint Lopetegui, has still not been rectified. The problems that emerged 18 months into the Moyes era, like lack of central midfield pace and energy, still not addressed.

Sullivan’s narcissism prevents him being unable to learn, listen and even be aware if his own failings. He is not even willing to learn. Only concessions he gives are after being forced to by other board members ( e.g. Steidten as a DOF ) but he half inplements it in a confused fashion, where recruitment ends up being shared between Steidten, Loppy and Sullivan himself, almost as if he us trying to undermine ir sabotage any changes from day one.

You gotta hand it to Sully he is a serial failure with improving the club he controls and yet, at the same time, relentless in repeating the same mistakes and being unable to learn anything.
🥱
