Bet the Thais feel the same about you
What feeling would that be?
Must admit to not seeing too many Thais in and around Belvedere - Couple of working ladyboys in Hornchurch/Upminster, but as for Johnny Foreigner around here, it's mostly Hindu Indians.

Is the house claiming that all who were attacked/killed/stabbed/raped/robbed/mugged down the years of the Notting Hill carnival were asking for it because they were perceived (whether they were or not is trivially unimportant) as being "Angrily noisy" and therefore not "Handling themselves" properly?

My old man used to say (of various muppets who incurred his ire), “if he was half as clever as he thinks he is, he’d be twice as clever as he actually is”. Sums Pickle up I’d say.

I’m not angry Pickle. More bemused.
and still intrigued as to how you would “handle yourself” at something you’ve never actually been to, despite the thread opener suggesting you were an aficionado.
I can imagine you buying a ridiculous hat within the hour.

So who is it that makes a lot of noise requiring "handling" at the Notting Hill carnival?
Can't be you - you've never been.

Handling yourself is at least partially about not being all uptight and making lots of angry noise.

“Always a great day out, if you know how to handle yourself”
But you’ve never been? Christ, even Zoltan had more credibility than this.
if you think this is normal and sane, as opposed to the ramblings of a fantasist, then crack on, it’s been a very entertaining thread.
Nurse, thank you. I wondered what the fucking hell he was going on about.

So, how, exactly do you "Handle Yourself" in these places - stay close to a big, burly policeman?

Exeter = "eck-SITTER"
He's probably really proud of that.

Actually, New York is a great place as long as you know how to handle yourself. As is Rio de Janeiro, especially the carnival. So many great things to do, so little time and so few resources…
Hope nobody swallows their tongue if I say it.

goose.
It's called attention seeking, happens all the time with fourpence. Even when he ends up getting ridiculed it's still a win in his world. Was it Madonna who said any publicity is good publicity? That's how fourpence sees things.

It’s certainly further indication that you’re fucking mental.
Not that any was needed.
No, it quite obviously is not an indication I am mental. But it is perfectly clear you are on sad crank, (Sitter).

If I wanted to immerse myself in the culture of foreign types, I'd go and live in their country, not have them impose their culture on MY country and it's population through the simple weight of numbers.
Still, I guess the UK must have it's benefits...

If you support a Premier league team … let’s say it’s West Ham … you can see them at home & at Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Fulham , Brentford & Palace without leaving the city.
What are YOUR interests outside work goose as a resolutely non gay man?
My interest are not being surrounded by immigrants and not living with violent & sex crimes.
you’re argument is London is the greatest city in the world because you can go to watch tennis & West Ham.

Not really. Don’t get too dizzy running around the houses.
Peoples opinions of great cities will be affected by their interests outside of work
Maybe museums, art, theatre , sport , music ,restaurants ,whatever
Yes, which is why making the case for
the greatest city is only relevant if you can quantify what a city offers to satisfy the universal needs of humanity. So perhaps Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Something which London is now failing miserably on with some of the bottom rungs of that hierarchy, namely 'safety' and 'belonging'.
If it’s sport I’m not sure many have a dozen football teams, 2 Test cricket grounds including the home of cricket, Wimbledon & the nations Rugby Union Stadium
You only have to go the mainline stations after these events to see that most people attending test cricket, rugby and premier league football don't live in London.

London is the greatest city on earth.
IF you're a 40+ year old Australian, childless, perennially single, work in middle management, wear Asics running trainers with your work suit, and live in Hampstead.
