NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Washington's NFL team to reveal new name on February 2. Most likely to be the Washington Wokers.

"Normally the 49ers seem an okay team, some great teams over the years. But need to lose this Sunday. And Saints win. Not that the latter can be expected to do anything in playoffs. But it is crazy year of attrition, so who knows."

"At the moment, many 'experts' have Carolina taking the first QB off the board - at #6. Followed by Washington at #9. Not sure if that will stay the same in the actual draft, though, because Detroit (currently #2) might decide to show Goff the door or pick his likely successor. Somebody usually jumps up the board to grab a QB they fancy, or takes him early. Usually the stupid fucking Jets (Mark Sanchez, anyone?!) - but, thankfully, that won't happen this year."

"At the moment, the Jets are scheduled to have five of the top 69 picks. Four of the top 38. That's without even having to trade. And we have a lot of cap room for free agency. It's a remarkable position to be in - and if Saleh can't make that work in his favour in 2022, then he won't be worth keeping as HC beyond that."

"Cough - at the moment, you're scheduled to pick at #12. But you could end up as high as #10. Your last game is against the Bears. If you wanted to move on from Cousins, I'd say 8-15 is where the better QBs will fall. At this stage - although irration and hope often means somebody moves up to snatch a QB or two earlier."

"Looks at this stage like the Jets will finish with the fourth-worst record in the NFL this season (Bills in the last game), behind Jacksonville, Giants and tied with Texans. If that happens, we'll draft 4th and 7th. We desperately need to rebuild an atrocious defense. Happily, the likely best prospects in the 2022 draft are mostly defensive players. No doubt a QB-hungry team will overspend, or draft up, to take the leading passer (likely to be Pickett at Pittsburgh or Coral at Mississippi). But at this stage, I can't see a QB going in the top five. Five best prospects are likely to be: Thibodeaux (edge rusher/OLB) at Oregon Hutchinson (edge/OLB) at Michigan Evan Neal (left tackle) at Alabama Hamilton (safety) at Notre Dame Stingley (cornerback) at LSU Jets in a ""fortunate"" position to be able to take any one of them with the #4 pick - even the LT, which is not really a position we need to fill. We'd be able to put Neal on the blindside and move Beckton to RT. Which would give us a massive OL to protect Wilson. Couple of very good WRs who will go early in the draft for those sides who need them: Williams at Alabama and Garrett Wilson at Ohio State. The 2022 draft is not looking blessed with great QBs, but there will no doubt be a starter or two tucked away and under-rated."

Cough - Vikes surely going to part ways with Zimmer. That whole relationship has looked dysfunctional for a while. But will they turn to? I see Lovie Smith making overtures..! ;-)

"North - yep, your lot are getting banged up quite a bit at the moment. It happens to all sides, but the Cowgirls seem to be having a bad run of injuries when they need their best on the pitch. It's still very open this season."

"Would imagine the only chan e we have of heating the Rams is if Jimmy G players, as clearly he's no world beater. Lance is one of those new generation QB's who isn't that brilliant at throwing a ball, so hopefully he can improve that in the close season, as until then him playing almost completely means Kittle not getting any service which weakens us massively. And Stafford has been just OK and an interception machine his entire career, so joining the Rams wasn't going to change that. 320 TD's and 159 interceptions. Shit really."

"There's absolutely no chance of us getting anywhere in the playoffs. Penalties a fucking shit kicker who's cost us 4 fucking games now with missed regulation field goals and extr points and an offense that only seems to be able to play 1 or 2 quarters a game. 2 Fucking rookie corners playing against us yesterday and we barely threw the ball the wide receivers and when we did we got big plays or touchdowns on virtually every throw""¶when Dak could actually get it anywhere near them. As it stands we'll play the cardinals in 2 weeks and unless the defence can win the game with turnovers I don't see us getting past the first round"

Your message said 3 picks when it was a fumble and two picks. Get it right dumbo. We are 12-4 and finishing above your mob again whilst this has all gone on. Just think how good we'll be when he cuts that out (like he did in the 2nd half yesterday).

"Actually saw some signs of life in the Jets last night, despite throwing the game away when it mattered. Zach Wilson is a talented young QB, clearly. But he needs more consistent support and receiving targets. He has definitely improved since he came back after mild knee-knack. But we have seen this before, with Sam Darnold, who was a talented young QB when he arrived in east Rutherford...only to be ruined by consistently poor and indifferent coaching. The jury is still out on the defense, which is young and naive, and still can't see out games. That has to be the focus of the big draft coming up for Saleh in April 2022: we have three very high picks. Really hard to judge Saleh's first season for a number of reasons: he lost Wilson for four or five key games, he contracted Covid and was 'coaching' from his bedroom etc. Every time we seem to take a step forward as a unit, we then follow it up with two steps back. Losing Bekton for most of the season was a huge blow. Any rookie QB would struggle without his blind side protection. Overall, we're only as good as when Saleh took over, but there are some promising green shoots of recovery: Wilson, Carter, Vera-Tucker etc."

"I watched the Jets / Tampa game yesterday, as my son said they are a bit like West Ham (of old). I was certainly impressed at how they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Are they the closest to being an NFL West Ham?"
