May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.
Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

I’m sure I read that Sunderland are now favourites to land Cresswell. That had the crazy idea of making a realistic offer for the player……..

That Cresswell from Englands U21's will hopefully be signed
I have a feeling we'll get that left back from the Czech league
That German defensive midfielder might be a great signing considering his stats at least. We seriously need a proper DM
If we lose Paqueta and Kudus we lose alot of skill in attacking midfield and they have to be properly replaced
Then the staggering need for a proper striker needs to be sorted ASAP! What strong pacey and technical strikers are out there we could realistically sign?
Seems like this Lucas Stassin lad is quite likely as a target.
Let's remember the players he used at CF at Brighton...Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay. Doesn't seem like we should expect exceptional through the middle.

Ha! We already lost them last season throughout with their shocking form. No loss, especially if we can con some Teams in to paying big money for them.

Yes, but actual names. Bearing in mind that most clubs don't actually have managers and that the buying and selling is done by um, the owners (or their representatives).
The other owners don't generally do their own rogue 'scouting' and 'buying' independently of what their manager/recruitment specialists want or recommend, and purposely buy players they don't want just because they fancy it, or not buy players their paid experts do want because they don't fancy it. Just doesn't happen.
An owner may tell their people someone is too expensive, sure, but what they won't do is just ignore or deliberately not properly pursue the targets their people have identified in favour of going rogue like Sullivan does.
Spot on!
Let's take Tony Bloom at Brighton as an example...
He'll probably say something like this to his staff
"I've invested heavily in the infrastructure of this club and provided all the tools and resources required to do an excellent job for which I'm paying you a very generous salary with benefits to get our player signings right most of the time rather than just some of the time. Don't let me or the club down"
Sullivan's approach to player signings barely gets the success required SOME of the time at all. Not compared to the money spunked up the wall by being a cheapskate and taking a blind punt on everything working out for the best. He's a busy idiot when it comes to the football side of things.
Enough already!

He's not like other owners who just write the cheques and don't throw their two penneth in.
Which owners are these that just write out cheques without question?
The ones that don't consistently stick their fuckin' oar in unless there is a proper car crash or old skool CHiPs style multi-vehicle pile-up which needs explaining forthwith...

The ones that don't overrule their employees and just do what they feel like on a whim or from a whisper in the ear from an agent mate.

Scorch and others are spot on, well most of us know in fact that the relentless dysfunction, short term thinking and incompetence is down to one man. Even Gold and Brady cannot compete with their supremo when it comes to the “art of fvcking things up”. What is really at the root though is that Sullivan like all narcissists can never be trusted, is dishonest, lies and is the master of deflecting blame by throwing just about anyone but himself “under the bus”.
We’ve been having this discussion since GSB took over and the 3 seasons in Europe were a unexpected accident and not the result of strategic or other longer term planning.

Maupay scored 4 times against us at the LS. What's the betting that if we signed him (and I hope to god we do not) that he would 't score as many goals FOR us there in the entire time he stayed with us?

I remember working with a Brummie called Alex he was a good lad and a bluenose.
He said to me at the time GSB bought the club...
"You may not realise it at the moment but the day will come when you despise their guts with a bitterness that you never thought existed"
I'm starting to think that young man was wise beyond his years.

I see Marseille are immediately trying to sell Neal Maupay after they had to buy him from Everton and some Premier League clubs are interested.
Right up our street, I reckon.
(this isn't me suggesting we buy him)

Yup, the buck stops with Sullivan. He's the one who has to give the 'ok' to every transfer. And we really mean the ok. He's not like other owners who just write the cheques and don't throw their two penneth in. He won't sign a player he doesn't fancy, so every single player in has been ratified as a 'good' player by Sullivan, just like every player he's torpedoed a deal for or outright turned down is a player he's not rated sometimes in favour of what his 'mates' are telling him to do. He's the ultimate judge of what is talent at WHU and nothing doesn't go through him. He agreed that Kilman was worth 40 million and over 100k a week. He's the one who threw away money on Ings.
It's his judgement or lack of that has brought us to this point. This is 'his' west ham squad. Not that of Moyes or Lop or Stiedten or Potter. They've only been allowed to sign who he wanted them to, and were not allowed to sign anyone they wanted he didn't want them to, despite his protestations of being a vulnerable and benevolent old man led down the garden path by a poor or unscrupulous actor when a player hasn't worked out well, and his self aggrandising and backslapping as a genius when one has. This mess is 100% on him. Yes he can take credit for AWB, but for every AWB there are five Ings' and Kilmans.
We will only get out of this horrible mess when he butts out once and for all and lets his employees get on with what he pays them for unencumbered, or is no longer in charge. Yes Lop would still have signed Kilman, but we'd never have had Lop in the first place.

Doesn't stop everyone wanking themselves dry over 'Trent', however he's been fortunate enough to play in club teams where he rarely needs to defend much almost all of his career
