"Taking to Twitter, the Italy international wrote: “Dear West Ham. “While my time in London didn’t go the way I had planned, some of my greatest life moments were made here. And for that I’m forever grateful Thank you to the players and staff for making me feel so welcome, and the fans for their continued support. “I will continue to support this fantastic club from home in Italy, and will be keeping in close touch with the lifelong friends I have made whilst in England Thank you for everything, Ciao.”"

"Pablo was excellent at times last season, but you'd have expected him to have attained some consistency by his age, but he hasn't and often fails to impose himself in the midfield despite his enthusiasm. I like him but there's got to be better out there?"

"I’d just like to see Fornals not out wide, but I don’t know how you’d shoe him into the team elsewhere. When I first saw him it was in the U21’s Euro’s or something and he certainly wasn’t a winger then."

I've often just watched Fornals and he runs and runs but hardly ever makes a tackle aka Anderson !!!! Yes he's a nice lad but he wouldn't be on my team sheet.

Yeah I'd be looking to move on from Lanzini as well. Said it at the end of last season.

"that's it manuel, people forget lanzini because he hides. he drifts through most games contributing fuck all from the position that should be filled by someone creating chances, yet fornals is out of position with a raspberry ripple behind him at LB"

"I always forget about Lanzini, an absolute waster, you wouldn't even get a couple of tracksuits for the bloke."

"only on here can a thread about our new striker turn in to an opportunity to slaughter fornals. I wouldn't mind if he was the only cսnt stinking the place out, lanzini seems to get a free pass most weeks when he's shit & goes missing. bunch of wankers"

"Statements like that only work when the player is currently being selected for the Spanish squad, Fortunes."

"If Fornals is so poor, can all you knowledgeable people explain how he gets selected for Spain?"

"Exactly that on Fornals, can’t believe the way people actually rate him. He shouldn’t be getting in our strongest 11. I’d get rid of him before Benrahma personally"

"Early doors, but very much like what I saw. Reckon he could be the real deal, and was the one bit of light from yesterday. As for Fornals, he's always been shit, was just hard for people to admit it because he seems like a great lad and loves the club."

H&P Bowen continued his poor form from last season?

He had that touch of class about him. Looked comfortable against strong opposition. Like to see him through the middle with Antonio and Bowen either side next weekend.

Fornals is shocking and won't ever be any better. What exactly is he 'meant' to be doing out there? He's so bad you almost feel sorry for him running after people for 90 minutes while contributing the square root of fuck all.

Fornals is a child playing an adults’ game. He should no where near the starting line up but the fool Moyes likes him cos he runs around a lot.

"I like the fact he generally stayed central and didn’t waste time and energy running channels, a proper CF should stay between the 18 yard box. Some good touches and movement. The one good thing about today."

"Only positive about today really - let's hope he stays hungry and focused because people like Soucek, Fornals and even Bowen seem to have carried on their atrocious form from last season (don't get me started about Cresswell). We desperately need new energy like this."

Very glad he was involved today!

"I was impressed. good movement/vision, a nice range of passing and he constantly wanted the ball played in to him. he'll do a lot of damage once he's comfortable"

True! Which is why we need to get a couple more in. Without anything good going on around him he may struggle. However I would argue that some onus is on him as a high priced player to make things happen as well. But if it doesn’t go well I just hope people don’t get on his back instantly and be a bit patient.

"Scorch, and if that happens (likely as we’ve looked stale) all the pressure will be on him to be the one that makes it click….."

"He obviously won't stick him out on the wing. It'll be centre of a front three, or as a two with Antonio, who is the obvious choice to move to a wider/playing off Scamacca role if they are on together. He probably will be introduced very slowly though, which will be rather annoying if the team isn't clicking in the first few games."
