"NDT ....those M8 boxes are ok IF you wipe them and put a build of OpenElec on them... Then they work really well. Otherwise, use: - FireStick (35 quid) - Fire TV (80 quid) - Raspberry PI2 (about 60 quid with case, power supply, SD card etc). Or if you're going all out get an Nvidia Shield. Benefit with Shield is you can also load up loads of old games on it (N64, Amiga, DOS, MAME, etc) using an emulator and have literally 1000's of old arcade and console games running for free on it."

"Word of warning on the Fire TV, the latest software update from Amazon seems to be causing a bit of grief with sideloading apps. Not had a proper read up on it yet though."

"Anyone wanting Kodi should get an Amazon Fire box (£80 in Tesco) and sideload Kodi onto the box (google how to do this - it's really straightforward.) I did use a Raspberry Pi for Kodi but the Fire box is more powerful, less buffering, etc. Top quality add ons to watch movies & TV programmes: Phoenix, Exodus, Hulubox, Stream all the Sources, The Royal We, UK Turk, Velocity. For football, Sportsmania is top notch - it's a subscription site (£26 for 6 months) but guarantees top quality live streams."

Get a box not a stick. Using WiFi is one of the biggest problems with buffering - get something with an Ethernet port and if it's impractical to plug it directly into your router then use Powerline adaptors.

"Realgsa, Buffering tends to be a hardware issue... Either the box or Internet connection. If you have Fibre broadband, and either a wired connection or FireStick in same room as your router its very rarely a problem. As for the Addons, they do come and go, but there are a number ervthatvtend to stay pretty stable for months if not years. Been using SportsDevil, Phoenix for years solidly. Zem.TV also... Genesis was solid for a couple years, and now Exodus replaces it (from the same Dev.). The minor (and it is minor) hassle isxwell worth saving 70 quid a month Sky subs as well as getting a much greater range of viewing options. If Murdoch offered the same for 20quid a month nicely packaged up, would do that. But he doesn't."

Added Exodus last night and it has all of Rick Stein's box sets so I'm a happy bunny.
