Probably depends on whether you're more interested in the story or the story telling. "That's the thing Miike, I just think it is so much better than anything else I've ever seen in terms of the quality of the writing, the acting, the characters, dialogue....you name it. Most of all, every season and episode is worthwhile. Funnily enough, couple of years back I came across a copy of David Simon's book 'Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets' which was obviously the basis for that series and to some extent 'The Wire'. I couldn't believe how badly written it was. I still struggle to see how he went from that to writing the greatest tv drama ever, IMHO, of course...there must be hope for the rest of us..."
