"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Niners give up a 3rd and 4th for Emanuel Sanders and Denvers 5th rounder. At 32 he wont cost a fortune to extend. Niners need to preserve cap space to resign free agents next year. Next years draft we will have a 1st round two 5th's and a 6 and 7th rounder. Niners adding pieces without mortgaging the future. We should be able to sign Buckner and Armstead next year and a few others.

"1.Brady 2. Elway 3.Montana 4.Manning 5.Marino Obviously i wan't around for a lot of the old greats so most of my opinions are based on history, old film and people's opinions who i respect. Could obviously include people like Unitas, Starr or Otto Graham in there but i don't even think those guys were playing the same sport back then compared to how it is now."

"Agree to disagree. He is top 5 forbme especially , if they can do it again. Without the natural gifts of some others, garbage defences around him, natural disasters but never dipped bellow 7 wins. Which is saying something for the Saints."

"Crystal's top five... 1. Joe Namath. 2. Broadway Joe. 3. That ""guarantee"" bloke from 1969. 4. The real No. 12 (in Green and White). 5. Tom Brady."

"Brees' is obviously very very good, but i dont put him in the same bracket as the true greats of all time, he has a lot of yards throwing in the dome but has always been a bit shaky when playing on the road. Also the saints have had quite a number of seasons where they have gone like 8-8, 7-9 etc which you just never see for the truly great QBs. Top 10 id say but doesnt approach my top 5"

"Haven't been able to catch many other games, so hard for me to judge but so far the Saints have managed to win through a bunch of adversary. I think Brees deserves another ring but I am biased."

"Saints or Packers i think will be the NFC representative in the superbowl, seem to have a good balance of offence and defence and have the elite QB (when Brees is back) who can win a game when things may not be going according to plan. Think the Brees injury may be a huge blessing in disguise for New orleans, seems to have brought the team and defence together to circle the wagons. Also Brees' arm was noticeably shot towards the back end of last season, think he tired massively so a long break in the middle of the season may keep his arm fresh moving into January."

"southbankbornnbred 5:21 Tue Oct 22 I remember Abraham, probably because he went to the Falcons later. The Saints are the best defensively than any time I have been following them, even the bountygate year. It has been a lot of awful, paper bags on head 'Aints over the years. But apparently there was a group in 80's called the Dome Patrol where all 4 linebackers went to the Pro Bowl."

"Yeah, I remember it well. We only had Robinson for the one season, I think. He was a good safety - but for some reason he kept yanking at Aaron Brooks' facemask. Turley took offence! Our defence back then was as mean a hell. Not quite the sack exchange, but some hard-assed players like Ellis, Lewis and Abrahams. They liked a bit of a rumble."

"Southbank Do you remember a player of yours called Damien Robinson, would have been about the same time. Try to take the head off the Saints QB Aaron Brooks by yanking on his facemask. O lineman Kyle Turley took exception and went into the scrum and yanked off Robinson's helmet. came out waved it like a trophy. Think it was Monday night, because I was watching it with my friends at university and Turley was our favourite even before that."

"But Bledsoe was a fool - he was half a yard from the sideline and should have walked out of bounds. He tried to make the first down instead and stayed on the pitch - got walloped, the rest is history..."

"In fairness to Bledsoe - he was tougher than I recall: he played the next series of downs for the Patsies without realising that he had concussion from Mo's hit. Brady came on after that. Brady said the sound of Mo's hit on Bledsoe was 'the loudest I could ever remember hearing'. The linebacker just dipped his shoulder and stood firm on the QB. Almost knocked him straight out and crushed a vessel in his chest, which meant he was bleeding internally. It was a good job Bledsoe's QB coach intervened and sent him to hospital, or he might have died (he was trying to go home after the game)."

"Irons, That one is on us (Jets), I'm afraid. The Patsies were losing to Gang Green 10-3 in a regular season game, when Bledsoe set off on a scramble and got bulldozed (fairly) by Mo Lewis, the Jets linebacker. We all thought 'here we go - we've got rid of their starting QB...' And then on walked a barely known sixth round draft pick out of Michigan named Brady..."

Think he just got a concussion because i remember watching one of the (many) 3 games to glory DVDs that the patriots release after each superbowl win and Drew came back in after Brady took a slight bump and lead them on a scoring drive to beat the Steelers in the playoffs.

"FC I assume before my NFL time but I do remember when Drew Bledsoe was a really good quarterback there until getting injured (almost dying,?) And a 6th round pick had to take over."

Can just see the Mohammed Sanu double pass play in the AFC championship game to beat the chiefs now. Sanu has a perfect passer rating in his career on 8 attempts

"I liked NE back in the day when they had Grogan as QB and Tippet and Lippet in defense with Raymond Berry as coach, not so much now though but they are a great team, dynasty even"

"TM/Irons, Spot on. Whisper it, but they are even respected for that among their fierce AFC East rivals. Don't get me wrong, if their stadium fell down on them all tomorrow I wouldn't bat an eyelid. But, you know, there is begrudging respect there! ;-)"

"Brady deserves as much credit for that, he's sacrificed about $50-60m in salary over the last few years to help them stay competitive. you can count on one hand, players that have done that in this era"
