"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Definitely agree about Gregg Williams. I'd be surprised if he hasn't been told exactly that - the Jets would have needed to show him something more than Washington and it seems that Gase is a ""sink or swim"" guy in New York. Williams looks like a very solid back-up plan."

"One thing Gase was upset with MacCagnan about was Le'Veon Bell's contract. It seems Gase likes Bell as a player, but thinks the Jets significantly overpaid for him. Which is probably true. I think Gase was upset because Bell's contract limits his ability to bring in other established offensive players through free agency. He wanted a talented WR, but Bell's contract stopped us from being able to afford an elite level wideout. I kinda' side with Gase on that one, despite how talented Bell is (and he is a very good RB)."

"I think Greg has been given the nod that he'll be taking over if as expected it all goes wrong. I know we made him a good offer to take over as DC but he preferred New York, I'm sure he's next in line. I know bell is not the perfect example of a model professional but what sort of cսnt digs out a star running back before he's even played a game? every defeat will create more pressure and the NY media won't hold back"

"Personally, I think Mike McCarthy was the better option as HC for the Jets. He desperately wanted the job, not least because he wanted to work with and develop Sam Darnold. But in typical Jets fashion, the owners went elsewhere. Rumour has it that GM MacCagnan wanted McCarthy and that was the origin of the split that led to his departure. Still, Gase is now our man - so we get behind him. At the very least it will be interesting..!"

"TM - I agree entirely. We're going to have to find a GM quickly, and it will need to be one who can get along with Gase (that will be difficult) but who also stands his ground and can plan for a life without Gase. Gase is either going to be the best thing that happened to Jets coaching since Herm Edwards, or he's going to be an unmitigated and divisive disaster. Early signs are not good, which is a shame because he has put together a very talented group of assistants and coaches. Don't be surprised to see DC Williams take over from Gase if the HC loses the locker room quickly. He's marmite - the players are going to love him or hate him."

"when a heard coach starts having influence over who's the gm, and especially when the cսnt has just walked through the door, it's a case of the tail wagging the dog and a recipe for disaster"

"I see the Jets' ability to undermine every positive situation that they ever had with a self-inflicted crisis has reached new heights. No sooner had the dust settled on a decent-looking draft than the new head coach Adam Gase has had a huge fall-out with GM Mike MacCagnan - and MacCagnan has been sacked! So rather than stability and a more offensive approach under Gase, the Jets next season will be one characterised by all the usual uncertainties that surround a new GM/new HC relationship. I bet Sam Darnold is beginning to regret signing in Gotham! Gase is a weird HC. He talks and acts like he's Bill Belichick - and there are some things about him that I really like (particularly his choices of back-up staff: we've got a strong coaching staff now). But, beyond his stint as offensive co-ordinator in Denver, he has achieved very little in the game. His record in Miami was 23-25, which hardly set the world on fire. Now he's bitten the head off the man who helped to appoint him, which seems a bit OTT for a guy who hasn't even coached a single competitive game for the Jets just yet. Gase is now going to have to stop talking and walk the walk in Gotham - or he's going to be joining a very long list of very forgettable head coaches. Hold on to your hats, it's going to be interesting..."

"Solid draft from the Jets this year, considering that they had no second round pick. Williams is a top-class talent at the #3 pick. He and his namesake Len Williams are going to be one heck of a front line on defence. Thought we might opt for an edge-rusher with our first pick, but we did the right thing by taking the best player on the board. Our early 3rd round pick, Polite, was the edge-rusher we needed, He could turn out to be a steal if he can get his head straight. In stark contrast to his name, the guy's a nut - but very talented. Woe betide Tom Brady's creaking knees if this guy catches up with him. He does have a few off-field issues, though, which is rarely good for a rookie. Solid offensive lineman in the later part of round 3. He'll be starter in the NFL. Couple of solid picks in the later rounds, too. Our 5th round pick at CB is a good player. He would have gone earlier were it not for his past knee injury. All in all, a decent draft. After having had the worst roster I have ever seen just a year or so ago, we are slowly building some depth. Quite whether it's enough to compete with Belichick and Brady remains to be seen. Miami got a steal with the Rosen deal, too, so the AFC East will be a strong division all round."

"Oh and mike, helluva call on that QB, he seems to have alot of raw talent and the physical attributes, lets see if learning under brady, bellichick and McDaniels for a couple of years can turn him into someone capable of taking over"

"Very happy with this patriots draft, not that i know much about college football but got some positions of need and alot of scouts including Jeremiah are saying we've got some great prospects and had arguably the best draft Would have liked to have gotten a tight end but would be happy if they went and got kyle rudolph"

"Once they couldn't trade him before signing Murray they were in a very weak position. That being said, considering the weight of the money has already been paid for him, you could argue they'd be better off keeping him as a backup if Murray doesn't work out."

"Miami just absolutely destroyed Arizona in that Rosen trade, they traded back twice in the 2nd round aquiring additional picks and a 2nd rounder for next year then used that lower 2nd rounder to get rosen and got a 5th next year Arizona has already paid rosen the majority of his rookie contract, will cost Miami justbover 6m total for the next 3 seasons. Only thing is Miami are currently in revuild mode acquiring picks for next year, could be in position to take a top prospect like the kid coming out of Alabama and poor Rosen will be in the same situation again next year"

"All setting up nicely for the patriots to stroll to the superbowl again taking out thei biggest rival's main weapon hahaha Although as weird as it is to say it, i think the Browns have the best team in the AFC, Baker Mayfield does not seem one to let the big moments get to him either, they really could do some damage this year"
