It's a canny move, and hire of Gregg Williams, too, because the defensive options already available to Williams now (Len Williams et al) are better suited to 4-3. He can put the pass rush on the line, and let Adams co-ordinate the line of scrimmage pass defense on field. Putting a second inside defensive lineman alongside Len Williams could free up the beast - who will be more difficult to double-team. Bowles is a solid DC, but his system somehow managed to minimise Len Williams' strengths. He's a top quality lineman."
