"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Now, now Burnsie, you know what happened. Can you imagine how bad the Rams would be if Gurley tore his all 2 days before the start of the season,( there goes 1/3 rd of your playbook) Then Goff tears an acl 3 games in to the season....you lot would not have made the playoffs and you'd be crying in your cornflakes."

Deluded 49ers as usual. I thought you said you told me they'd finish above the Rams??!

"Brown is the best receiver in the league for me, would be fucking superb if he joined us even at his advancing years. Been desperate for a decent receiver for a while now and need it to take the pressure off of Kittle."

"According to Jerry Rice, (who's good friends with Antonio Brown) AB wants to be a 49 er next year in a bad way. Kittle, AB, Goodwin, Pettis, Taylor and James, with Jimmy gunslinger throwing them the rock or handing it off to McKinnon or Brieda sounds pwoper Nawty to me!"

"I called all of the home teams to win, though you didn't need to be Nostradamus to see that all of the away teams were fairly limited, especially offensively. Some of their defending was absolutely laughable though. Just done some good old fashioned Spurs choking I suppose. Couple of belting match ups next week, will go for the Chiefs and Saints. Mahomes doesn't seem to give a shit what game he's playing in and I backed the Saints, so have to stick with them."

"Arsene Bless. As they say in the States, you should write your Congressman and right that injustice if it bothers you so. On topic Tired (getting old) but buzzing. Brees needs to be better and penalties (deserved and otherwise) almost cost the Saints. Lutz not making it at the end and losing Shimmy Rankins is a concern. But probably still the best defence left in. Love the special teams and Taysom Hill. Micheal Thomas and the two headed masked run monster. O-line stayed healthy. Should be good game but easier."

"American football is a total misnomer. It is patently not football as this is played by billions throughout the world. American football should be football played in America. Which is nearly all countries in both continents of America. It is far more like Rugby the goals the, shape of the ball, it's played with the hands and scoring takes place in end zones with a conversion: although I would not denigrate rugby by too much comparison I therefore suggest the name is changed to US Rugby. BTW It's a real shit sport."

Hermit Road 4:45 Sun Jan 13 For a lot of good reasons. But every pundit that comes out and says upset might mean a little less chance the team and crowd get complacent.

"The switch back to a core 4-3 defence will be a really positive move for the Jets. It's a canny move, and hire of Gregg Williams, too, because the defensive options already available to Williams now (Len Williams et al) are better suited to 4-3. He can put the pass rush on the line, and let Adams co-ordinate the line of scrimmage pass defense on field. Putting a second inside defensive lineman alongside Len Williams could free up the beast - who will be more difficult to double-team. Bowles is a solid DC, but his system somehow managed to minimise Len Williams' strengths. He's a top quality lineman."

"TM, Yep, sorry about that! He's a damn good DC, it seems, so I'm pleased. His high-level experience on that side of the ball will also allow Gase to focus heavily on offense, which is his strength. So hiring Williams has mitigated some of the anger about Gase's appointment. Maybe this could work out for us now. Williams will be central to any success - he's got two gold standard defenders to work with in Len Williams and Jamal Adams, plus some solid inside linebackers and other safeties. If I were MacCagnan and Gase, I'd give Williams a lot of room to make the defensive play-calls and let rip his 4-3 formations. Len Williams might re-find his very best form under Gregg."

"Huge if but what a decision to have to make. I think it is already tough especially with Wentz' injury record. As for Mahomes, he runs like Raheem Stirling."
