Re: Moyes Out
"I'd love it if we won, Manual. Just like I loved it when we won the Intertoto. We should be winning it. The bookies think so also. swindon hammer - the standard of this years Europa completion is much, much higher. Spend a load of time to compile a list like you did there, and you'll see."

Re: Moyes Out
"LT - I think there have been a few decent sides in this comp, Fiorentina, Lazio, Alkmaar to name three. But agree it's tinpot, IMO the biggest prize in getting in the EL next season, now that's worth having!"

Re: Moyes Out
"Lee Trundle, You also said not that long ago that last seasons Europa League was the worst in terms of standard of clubs in history. Barcelona Borussia Dortmund Rangers Celtic Seville RB Leipzig Atalanta Real Betis Napoli Lazio Lyon PSV Eindhoven Galatasaray Marseille Real Sociedad Eintract Frankfurt Bayer Leverkusen Monaco"
Re: Moyes Out
So according to a Paqueta interview with ESPN Brasil the players changed the game plan after going 2 - 0 down and attacking starting with pressing the Arsenal defence high. Moyes had nothing to do with it apparently. It kind of confirms all we thought about Moyes. He holds the team back with his ancient tactics

Re: Moyes Out
"fraser - I don't know, but the comment was we 'won't' win it, it's not just Moyes though is it, it's our DNA to fuck everything up. I think we lost last years SF because of the early goal at home and Cresswell getting sent off, but I suspect that was all Moye's fault no doubt. We may end up just losing to a better side, i.e Fiorentina. Personally, I think we will go for it in this comp now, but no doubt that makes me a naive fool, we shall see."

Re: Moyes Out
"Trundle I actually agree about the level. You're quite right. I just mean it was never really a competition was it, it was qualifying for the UEFA cup and they just gave it a name. So that wasn't actually a real trophy. This is actually a competition in itself."
Re: Moyes Out
"Manuel - do you fancy us to win it, I don't because I feel we will have to be brave somewhere along the line, and every Moyes trait is a cautious one, unless he's learnt from last year's semi. But I doubt it as he's blamed the players."

Re: Moyes Out
"Fifth Column 10:37 Tue Apr 18 In terms of the quality of teams that were in both the Conference and the Intertoto, then I'd put them on par with each other. Everyone who isn't in this Euro Conference views it as a load of old bollocks."

Re: Moyes Out
So posters can now no longer say we're going down (as we're not) so now it's 'we're not going to win the Conference league'. it's all getting a bit pathetic on here now.

Re: Moyes Out
"Trundle The Intertoto?!! I loved the Metz, trip, probably my favourite away day ever. But it was bollocks as a ""trophy"". This would be our first win since 1980. Either way we won't win it with Moyes."

Re: Moyes Out
"wd40 1:17 Tue Apr 18 ""If he wins a trophy this year will go down in Hammers history . Like it or not. Been waiting since 1980"" To me, that's a mighty big IF even if the bookies see us as the hot favourites. Don't forget he messed it up in the semis last year. Also, where were you for the 1999/00 season?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Think it's pretty clear this team would perform so much better with a manager with a different philosophy. If you look at Brentford for example, makes you wonder how good we could be with there manager running things"

Re: Moyes Out
"Joyo There is no need to jump this thread just because of yesterday's result. Moyes is, and have been, a disaster. In the best interest of West Ham, he need to go."
Re: Moyes Out
"I'm still trying to understand how we suddenly started pressing higher up the field! First 10 minutes and 2 goals down after Arsenal walked through us like we weren't there so I thought ""here we go again"". But no. We started pressing much further up rather than rush back to defend in depth as Moyes usually coaches us to do. I can only think someone else has changed the game plan. Has Noble or the coaches gone over Moyes head? we not only rattled a top of the table side but showed up just how poor they are defensively. I've now got a lot more hope for the Gent return leg. I also think we will easily survive our relegation battle with the kind of tactical plan we played yesterday. It's exactly what fans have been caling for and I just can't help feeling Moyes wasn't the architect. If Moyes was then about fucking time too..."
Re: Moyes Out
"Enjoyable spells yesterday of us going direct and Antonio being effective which has been rare over the last 12 months. Players bought for playing thru teams has failed under Moyes and only Paqueta gets a regular game. The same direct approach will not work against every team but what will is the much better / quicker pressing we were doing yesterday especially in the final third. Hopefully we do the same at Bournemouth. But Moyes still needs to drop Soucek and give Cornet , Downes and Fornals more minutes Imo. Will he? Unlikely."

Re: Moyes Out
"You'd think by now that Moyes would work out that whatever he sends the team out to do, isn't working. As someone said on the match thread (I think?) the earliest we've scored this season is in the 20th minute. That's pathetic."

Re: Moyes Out
"If we win the euro conference the media, the club, many supporters, the favourite players and the man himself will see no justification for removing Moyes. His continued tenure will be the price of our success. We need to prepare ourselves for this scenario"
Re: Moyes Out
"We had to go two down to get a response. Ditto Newcastle. It should be a given to be up for big games like these at home, not wait until we are nearly out of it."
