"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

There goes Josh Gordon's career. Shame he can't sort himself out for more than a few weeks at a time.

"Cant believe James Devlin didn tget in the Pro bowl he's the best fullback in football by a distance. Also surprised Brady made it this year, he's been way below his normal standard, guess it's just name recognition."

"I hope the Vikings keep their playoff spot, and beat the Bears (or whoever) in the wildcard. They just have to beat the Lions and then either win against the Bears last day or hope either Washington or Philly don't beat a decent AFC team in with something to play for and then win their head to head game last day. Actually easier done than said. crystal falace 10:28 Wed Dec 19 That said, I think the Bears will probably have something to play for last day. If they win against the 49ers (even if the Rams win) they will have a chance to catch the Rams due to the head to head tie break. (They could catch the Saints, if the Saints lose their last two as well.) If they lose week 16, they can be caught the next week by the Cowboys, (due to conference record tie break). Dallas would have to lose to the Bucs to void that possibility. If you are bored, here is something to play around with: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/upshot/nfl-playoff-picture.html"

"Should probably have given up and played for the 1st round draft pick, but good to see the Niners battling, as clearly very limited offensively with all of the injuries, but have a half decent defence. Guess their thinking is that everyone will be back in one piece next year and it'll all be rosy. As we know with the hammers, never bloody works like that :o)"

"Depending on how next week's results go, the bears could have nothing to play for in week 17 so the Vikings may be playing against the second stringers"

"Ioc, get in the dome for the rest of the season and I think you'll be difficult to beat. the afc is interesting, the chargers look very good at just the right time. the skins need to win in tenessee saturday to stay alive, I think it's one miracle too many :.)"

"Takashi Miike 4:21 Tue Dec 18 Rams should win out if something is not complete broken or they have not been completely sussed. (Most of these high power offences have to take it to new level at this point in the season) The Saints don't need the win against the Bears for home field, I think they beat Cam again, this time at the Superdome. But they need for it confidence against good defences in the playoffs. It will be really tough, especially if the O-line does not heal real quick."

"Always nice to beat the Joker, I mean Newton (watch his post game press conference) and Superdome through to the Super Bowl is almost done deal for the Saints. Defence is making big plays, which is what they did the year they won it all. Some silly, silly plays on offence and the big worry is the O-line injuries going forward."

Rams massively out of form at the wrong time. We need a game against the 49ers to get us back on track.

"Fuck the calls against the Pats. Every year they have the least amount of penalties against them and it isn't because they don't do anything wrong. About time the officials stopped sucking up to them. Deservedly lost last night and I didn't understand why Brady just tried 3 long throws into the end zone when he could have got them nearer first, as he had the time."

"Feck all to do with the play-off picture, of course, but the Jets' defeat yesterday masked another decent effort by Darnold. No picks - he's finally teaching himself how to protect the ball (he's not getting a lot of help from our poor quality coaching staff). For a kid who is still just 21 years-old, there's some real talent in there somewhere - despite Bowles being absolutely clueless about how to develop it. Bowles will leave the franchise, and I think that Darnold will appeal to a decent offensive coaching mind. That should keep us in the frame for a good HC coaching appointment. If Sam had fallen off a cliff in these dead rubber games, I'm not sure we'd be in the market for the best coaches. But we might still have a decent chance of landing the right guy. Besides, we'll have a top five pick again in the draft - one we'll likely trade away for more picks to help build a proper, balanced side for once."

"NFC... The Rams are beginning to shit the bed, if the the Saints win convincingly tonight then they look top bets in the NFC but I wouldn't want to play the Bears right now home or away. AFC... Could all hinge on who finishes top of the division between Chiefs and Chargers here, I don't think there is any other team in it in the AFC."

"Steelers beating Patsies - that's fine by me! They deserved it, too, although - you're right - they got some pretty advantageous refereeing decisions. Quite a logjam of potential Super Bowl winners taking shape now. The Rams remain a good side, but you just get the impression that good coaches are now beginning to work out McVey's strong offensive mind just enough to keep opponents competitive. It happens - it always happens. How he responds now will be key to just how good he, and the Rams, will be. Steelers beginning to look as strong as always under Big Ben. They are a proper threat. Eagles getting back to basics. Chargers the side gaining momentum at this stage of the season - there's always one. Chiefs still look like they can do anything under Mahomes/Reid. That combination of youthful talent and capacity, and savvy old coach is going to be hard to stop. Texans doing what the Chargers are doing, only generally against poorer opposition (like the Jets!). I fancy Chicago's defense will keep them in any game, too. And Belichick and Brady will be...Belichick and Brady. Always there or there abouts. Anybody's call at this stage. It's a proper spread. The 'Any Given Sunday' types at the NFL will be delighted."
