NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"from wiki............. ""On April 25, 2024, the Falcons drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with their first-round selection (eighth overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Falcons did not notify Cousins or his agent of the decision until they were on the clock with their pick.[189]"" üòÇ"

"I'm sanguine, though. If we take Bowers at #10, then we have a primary TE as well as an excellent lead WR (Wilson) for Rodgers to aim for next season. We just have to patch up the line in those circumstances. It's all or nothing for Rodgers next year, so he'll be asking for targets."

"TM - I agree. I think the Jets should trade out #10 and drop down the 1st round, picking up a 2nd in the process (we don't have a Rnd2 at the moment). Then take the top guard on the board, and give yourself a high second rounder. Bowers looks good for a receiving tight end, no question. But we need an O-line to protect Rodgers - or he's not throwing to anybody."

"The St Brown contract has reset the WR market, Aiyuk might prove to be a bit too pricey for the Niners now, could well see a trade. Gotta pay Purdy next year and Ward and Lenoir our two best CB's are out of contract and will command a big pay day too. Can't afford everyone."

"SB, an overspend is taking a guard or centre at 10. there's none worth taking that early, it's why I said it may be worth moving back a few picks (18-20) if that's the plan. bowers is is very good and it wouldn't shock me if he went earlier (pair him with pitts)"

"First three picks will be QBs, seems to be the consensus. Williams, Daniels and Maye. One of them will most likely fail or struggle. That's just how it tends to be. That's the QB premium in action."

"Sure, but with some WRs you can just tell that they will succeed - and there are some in this draft. Harrison Jnr may well be the first WR off the board. Obviously he has good genes! But Odunze looks good for any team requiring a big target for their QB. He will probably go in the top seven picks, too. He's 6ft 3, weighs 215lb already, is agile for a big guy and - more importantly than any of that - he has good hands. All the talk in NYC today is that the Jets have decided on Brock Bowers (TE) as their #10 pick. Looks like a talented tight end, but I'd say that's a slight overspend - and we really need to bolster the O-line with long-term talent. As people have said, though: you just can't tell with the draft. You can draft superbly and identify all the right talent. But if you have shit coaches, poor playbooks, awful owners, unforgiving fans, a history of failure and a relentlessly negative media, then even talented players coming out of college fail to step up in the pros. If you have all of those things, you are generally the New York Jets..."

southbankbornnbred 3:36 Thu Apr 25 Drafting wide receivers is as much of a toss up as any position. Paca Nacua was drafted in the fifth round and the 20th-ish WR picked last year.. Amon-Ra St Brown was 4th or 5th round as well a couple of years ago.

Pats want to stack them picks. But are going to find it very hard to sell it too the fan base. Especially with the quality at the top of the draft this year. Also if the Pats do take a QB at the top end of the draft. That person walking into the building with the ghost of the GOAT weighing very heavily on their shoulder's. Thanks. But no thanks.!

"That said, this is a strong draft for receivers. There will be some genuine talent available at WR as deep as the third round. Jets should take the best inside guard available, then a receiver."

"I just want to see the Jets recognise that they need to bolster the trenches - most obviously on the offensive side. So a top-class talent at tackle (despite signing two in free agency), guard or centre would do us the world of good. If that means trading from #10 to take a pick further down the first round, and picking up a second rounder, then I'd have it. The Jets have to fill the ""boring but crucial roles"" this draft. They paid the price for overlooking it all last season."

"shorty, I heard a pundit on some podcast say that the patriots front office like a deal and may be tempted stacking future picks. brissett could do a job for a year. also weird theories about harbaugh trading herbert, and him taking mccarthy. think that's very doubtful but strange things happen üòÇ"

"Far Cough 3:01 Thu Apr 25 there's a few teams looking for one (raiders, broncos). it's whether you can get the chargers to move. I think your coach likes Maye, but the Patriots are the problem as im sure they'll also select one. JJ Mccarthy is a good option if still there at five"

Nabers. But I'm happy with any of them three WR. Expect a phone call to go into the Pats at No3 if Maye is still on the board. But we ain't selling the ranch too get it. Something I can see the Vikings doing. But with 4QB's. 3WR and Joe Alt all going in the top 8. Can see some silly horse trading going on this evening.

"no, not overly bothered about the nails. just think his ego could be a bit fragile, and I'm not convinced he could lead a locker room. I don't have any of those worries with daniels, mccarthy or maye. I like maye, but I think the other two could be ready earlier. I think maye could benefit from a year developing and we haven't got that"

"I want Jayden Daniels or JJ Mccarthy at 2. I think we'll get Jayden, then we'll try and move back in to the first for a Tackle, possibly Mims from Georgia. My worst nightmare is the Bears changing their minds and targeting someone else. Williams is one distraction we don't need"

You are right southbank especially about the slow reads. The killer stat is 113 sacks vs 23 TDs.

"Zeb, Yeah, he's really not that good! Too hesitant after the snap and doesn't make his reads quickly enough. Like Geno Smith, he had talent when we drafted him. But, like Geno (and Sanchez, and Darnold etc), we didn't exactly coach him well. The Jets should largely give up trying to draft high-pick QBs. Under these owners we are utterly shite at it. They don't know how to coach it, or manage the process of appointing those who can coach it. Better for us to spend well in free agency for an established QB, and draft the weapons around him."
