"That's a very good point about injuries etc, Definitely lots more knee/ankle/ligament injuries than ever before. I do think the players are a bit faster thanks to lighter equipment, a bit bigger on the whole, and probably they hit a little harder. There's no doubt that running routes basically on carpet where the defenders aren't really allowed to put hands on you like in the old days really helps quarterbacks and receivers rack up yards and stats like never before and linemen are being chosen to pass protect, to the point where the running back is not so often the star or workhorse of the team any more.
