"Council Scum 11:57 Mon Mar 6 'Its really getting boring with the whole ""Women are much cleverer than men, much stronger than men"" crap. There is nothing wrong with strong male characters, it's like they are to ashamed to have one anymore. Even if they do have one in a vaguely decent light, he's always a bit stupid now, because women are much smarter...' This is why Disney is losing money hand over fist. If you tell half your audience they are thick and useless, they become reluctant to shovel bucks your way in order to be told that. It's especially silly when, in the real world, it's the half of your audience that specially enjoys the type of flicks you are making. For instance, I will have to endure some shit like the Banshees of Wosname in order to get get the other half to accompany me to see Antman 3. Why will I do that if I'm going to spend 2 hours being patronised and insulted in the film I do want to see? I might as well see neither. If it wasn't for Avatar 3 Disney would be bankrupt, and I'm really not sure Avatar 4 is going to pull off the same trick, because if you look below the blue cgi, that has pretty much the same message."

Zico Yeah I was thinking exactly the same thing ref the shooting scene when they Hart is asking if they are firing blanks and not real ammunition. A bit risqué.

"Swiss, yeah I quite enjoyed Die Hart. Was it all merged together from a mini TV series he did a few years ago to create the film? Reason I ask is the scene in it with guns and blanks, even a non woke bugger like me thought was possibly a bit raw considering the Alec Baldwin thing."

"Thanks gents for the heads up on those. I tend not to use the internet sites as most don't have subtitles and being deaf I rely on those a lot. DVD/subtitles was the biggest invention in history for me! I did fancy watching Deliverance recently and downloaded it, downloaded subtitles, merged them together ad stuck it on a memory stick. Took a while, I must be really old school!"

"Plane - It's like a TV movie, but yes it's a decent yarn. Zico - Have you seen Nobody and/or Honest Thief? Both easy to watch decent action films. Bullet Train was 'silly' of course, but I stuck with it and was worthwhile in the end. I really enjoyed the last Batman. As for the older films, i assume you don't use 'download' sites like piratebay, they will be on there?"

"Finding I'm turning off certain films after 20 minutes more these days than I ever have. Turned off Bullet Train last week, not for me, but can understand how some might like it, caught last 10 minutes last night and glad I turned it off. Love Batman usually but hit the off button again with the new Robert Pattison effort. Two I did see the whole way through were Page 8, a bit of espionage with Bill Nighy, few years old now, but it's ok. Last night watched We Have a Ghost, was ok actually, a bit of a throwback to 80's films. Worh a watch if nothing better is on,."

A couple of films I’ve seen recently: Babylon - overlong pile of shit The Menu - pretentious allegorical (I think) pile of shit Empire of Light - more watchable but they couldn’t stop themselves putting in some political point scoring about racism and nurses working long hours Plane - pretty good watchable action flick

"I've been getting into a few of the Robert Redford Films again. All is Lost is brilliant, Walk in the Woods great fun, along with The Last Castle, Brubaker etc. The ones i can't find anywhere free are An Unfinished Life, The Clearing, The Hot Rock and The Chase. Anyone seen them before I splash out on the these days over priced DVD's for older films?"

That Luther fillum - if it follows the curve of ultra-steep decline of each successive tv series it will be very shit indeed. The whole thing was crap after his side-kick got killed.

"I watched Bank of Dave. It’s actually a decent story (based on a true story), and Rory Kinnear is good in the title role. Unfortunately, they decided to turn it into a half-arsed Richard Curtis type rom com."

Regarding Top Gun... didn't mind the original although it was cheesy as hell.... never liked the sequel and that's watching it at huge Imax cinema... plot was too laughable to take seriously .... only thing I liked about it was his P51 Mustang... anyway each to their own and it does seem like I am in the majority... Oh the missus never liked it either
