Americas Cup sailing

The Sir Jim Ratcliffe funded British contender into the first to 7 wins final of the Americas Cup off Barcelona vs defending holders NZ
England were in the final in 1964 but believe competing as GB now
Bit changed from the 12m yachts to these modern flying catamarans
Started in Cowes in 1851 where the NY Yacht Club won & won the first 24 competitions over 132 years when it went to New York then Newport Rhode Island

Kiwis are faster and seem better at knowing where the wind is. It's forecast light winds today similar to Wednesday that might favour us Brits. I am seriously considering missing us against Spurs for what may be the last race!!!!
Looking for a bar close to the beach that might put the game on to try and manage a bit of the game.

Both Friday races to the Kiwis for 6-2
Go again Saturday with one more win needed for them to retain
Understand its £110m that Ratcliffe has pissed away on this
Cheaper than Antony & Casemiro I guess

Presume it’s 2 races on Friday so whatever happens it will go to the weekend

Who'd have thought it 4-2 after today with GB winning both races... NZ made bad mistake in pre-start of first race and were out of sight and second race was very close with GB winning by 6 secs.

I'm off up to Barcelona to see this. We have a boat booked to go out on next Sunday, not tomorrow, but next weekend. To tell the truth I haven't a clue what is going on, but my mate booked it all up and is flying over for it. I hope they will be sailing on that Sunday, not sure how this first to 7 works.
For sure we have a good piss up on Saturday seeing Spursy take on the mighty Hammers.
Sounds good, mate.

Nope, really isn't looking like this racing makes it to the weekend. Massive day for the Brits tomorrow.

The 2013 Americas Cup was first to 9 wins
The NZ challenger led 8-1 including 2 races USA won which weren’t counted due to a penalty because of boat modifications pre series.
USA came back to win 9-8

4-0, despite having the upper hand at the start.... doesn't look as though you are going to see any racing next Sunday Mex!

Not looking good is it?
Next race is crucial, go 4-0 down and I can't see anyway back.
Upwind boat speed seems to be lacking and we could do with winning a start, only then will it be clear how we stand on boat speed. If we can get to the windward mark first I think we could ease away downwind...

75m penalty for Ineos at the start & the Kiwis cruise in easily
3-0 with another race this afternoon

NZ 2 GB 0 after day 1
Two more races Sunday and then a 3 day break before races 5 & 6
Ratcliffe has spent £100m on this challenge
I guess that’s all money he isn’t spending on Man Utd or UK tax
