Son appeals for help after late dad's Rolex lost when he collapsed at West Ham match

Jay Gray said he was watching Wolverhampton Wanderers play against West Ham in Stratford, London, last Monday when his father collapsed and was carried away for CPR.But as he was moved, the Rolex Submariner Date he was said to be wearing disappeared.Mr Gray posted an appeal on X saying his family was "desperate" to have the "sentimental" watch returned.

 Recounting his ordeal, Mr Gray said: "My dad unfortunately collapsed and passed away at the Wolves game last Monday night, he had to be carried up stairs from his seat in block 123 to be able to have CPR performed on him, his watch went missing when he was moved and we desperately want it back.

What a scumbag! Its either one of ours, a steward or medical stuff I guess, either way how depressing

Despite anything else and the grief and the mourning, sadly the best chance of getting the thing back is to start the search as soon as possible so they had to do this really.

I was gonna start a “Rolex for sale” thread but is it too soon?

I’ve had two rolies, GMT that I bought in 2010 for £4,450 and sold in 2020 for £8,500.
Second was an air king which cost me £6k and I sold for £6k two years later.
For me it just wasn’t worth the hassle with insurance and worrying about getting it nicked.

I assume that there is no CCTV of the incident.

Would have been full-on 4K HD had the poor man been shouting nasty words about the opposition.

My hope is that an early responder removed the watch and stuck it somewhere safe, then it slipped his/her mind as to where it was/is.

I presume this bloke wasn't targeted beforehand, but there are plenty of examples out there of people being mugged on the street for their expensive watches. Some people now buy Chinese replicas to wear out and about and leave the 'real' things at home which is a bit mad if you think about it.

Unless they are certain it went missing when he was being moved i's more than likely been taken off when he was recieving medical attention and possibly lost in the system.

We had this recently with my aunt's wedding and engagement rings after she died after being rushed in to Ealing hospital.

They had been removed before she was moved from one ward to another and recorded but wasn't showing on the system.

They tracked them.down after someone took the trouble to investigate.

A mate of mine went into hospital recently and ended up having his stuff taken, was put somewhere for safe keeping and that was the last he saw it.

Chances are knowing our bodge job of a Stadium, the watch fell off his wrist then between 1 of the many gaping gaps in the stands on to the cunting running track below. 

They must find all sorts of shit down there once a season has ended, but I guarantee they'll never find a fit and in form Striker at our Stadium, no matter how hard they try searching....

In fairness, if they tried to revive him there and then with a defib, they would have taken any metal jewellery off first. 

Lets hope someone kept it safe for him and hasn't taken it. 

yeah and i can't see how someone saw it fall off and it still ended up stolen. surely people are assuming it fell off, but was probably slipped off his wrist by someone at some point

Having never owned an expensive watch I’m pretty sure a Rolex can’t just fall off. Don’t they have 2/3 clasps to keep them on?
