I used to hate him with a passion too, but when I saw him on that boat ride I hated him with even more passion. Fucking thick chav cսnt. If I had a knighthood I would not be considering sending it back because of this. It would have gone back years ago, when all these pop stars were getting them.

Fuck right off with the ball tampering you fake Aussie cսnt, it's not even in the same class of ball tampering that Australia were found GUILTY of.

Do you honestly believe Moore wouldn't have been Knighted had he not died young whilst Charlton was 6 years older than Moore when he died receiving it?

Moore was the captain & the manager had been knighted
Personally I don’t think sportsman should receive honours while still active but 1977 at least was the appropriate time
Otherwise you get ridiculous situations like Englands ball tampering Ashes cheats of 2005 getting MBE’s (including P Collingwood who scored 17 runs in the series).
They then went to Australia in 2006/7 & lost 5-0

Plenty of talented people turned all this down -
David Bowie, Paul Weller, LS Lowry, Graham Greene, etc

Bobby Moore died 27 years after winning the World Cup
He finished with Fulham in 1977
What exactly were they waiting for?
If England win the World Cup in 2026 will Harry Kane still be waiting to become Sir Harold in 2053?
I guess there were other people ahead of him in the queue like Jimmy Saville
Fauxoutrage. He was 51 when he died. Bobby Charlton was 57 when he received his Knighthood. And it was 10 years after Moore received his O.B.E that Charlton received his.

Bobby Moore wasn't never rewarded for his efforts. A total myth peddles since as well as the idea that somehow he wouldn't eventually end up Knighted. Moore was awarded an O.B.E in 1967 in the New Year's Honours list 6 months after winning our greatest achievement.
By comparison Bobby Charlton was Knighted in 1994 2 years after Moore's untimely death aged 57. He received an O.B.E in 1977 when he retired from Man Utd after 106 appearances for England as well as winning the World Cup too.
What done it for him in the end was unfortunately being struck down far too young with Bowel cancer that took his life way too early at 51. No doubt in my mind that he would have got the top honour had that not happened but he did at least get honoured an O.B.E soon after helping England win a World Cup.

Was like most pissed off with him getting sent off after the Argie game but a lot of the vitriol after was well over the top. As for Hoddle throwing him under the bus...that was obscene

Bobby Moore. Captain FA Cup winning team; Captain European Cup Winners Cup winning team; Captain World Cup winning team. Reward for success? Other Buggers Effort and a part time job on the radio.
David Beckham, media whore and sent off on his biggest game, Knighted.
It is fucking wrong. I know times have changed so, on that basis, should Ward Prowse score another free kick and break Beckham's record free kick record will he be knighted too?
Country?
Dogs?
I remember listening to Bobby Moore doing co commentary with Jonathan Pearce on capital gold when he was clearly not well and struggling.
Absolutely tragic and a disgrace the way he was neglected by the FA in his time of need.
Beckham will never have an ounce of the class of Bobby and is just basically a thick bloke who could take a free kick and got lucky..
A fabricated icon.

Bit mad that 3 of the 5 England players with the most caps as captain for England, are from East London, even if it could be argued NE or Essex border. 2 of them went to the same school, odds on that happening are crazy.
That said, who gives a fuck about these apparent honours these days? Jimmy Saville was knighted for fuck sake.

Chingford is NNE London, right up the road from Sp*rs. Never classified that as being E London
It's an E postcode, but yeah, nothing interesting ever happened in Chingford. It has about as much personality as all those other North London boroughs full of Spurs. Therefore, it's North London.

He's from Chingford, so any talk of him being 'East End' is a load of rubbish.
East London not East End...
Correct.
Though not sure I'd particularly even class Chingford as East London, despite the postcode.
In fairness he was born in Leytonstone and lived there for a couple of years.

Arise sir Gordon Hill (the Wealdstone raider) has a certain ring to it.
.
Great Ormond street and other autism charities have benefited in no small measure by.his fundraising.

Was he knighted for his services to infidelity or for losing the World Cup with a petulant kick out? Or indeed, as posted below, for being the 5th best player in a very good Man United team?

They'll give these knighthoods to anyone.
Its all Beckham has been after, I'm sure there are other people out there more worthy.
Beckham is now an ambassador for The Kings Foundation. As part of the role, he and Alan Titchmarsh are encouraging youngsters to take up work in horticulture.
David Beckham encouraging young people to take up gardening? WTF!
