Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The Premier League is to review the controversial VAR decisions at Chelsea and Newcastle yesterday with referees' body PGMOL as a matter of priority. The move comes after decisions that denied Newcastle United and West Ham goals against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, respectively. Both teams thought they had scored, with the goals confirmed by the on-pitch referee. In each instance, the goals were disallowed after VAR. Both decisions have been heavily criticised, with many arguing that the role of VAR is not to get involved to reverse debatable calls that have already been made. Does Premier League have a problem using VAR? BBC Sport understands the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) will fully co-operate and collaborate with the Premier League's request to review the incidents, using the outcome as part of an ongoing assessment of weekly performances and the development of its match officials going forward."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
“ Not sure why the ref needed so many replays for what was a very obvious foul. Took longer than it did to overturn our goal.” That’s it for me. Even when they get it right it is misused to the detriment of the game. That was a clear foul that was obvious on the first replay. Should have been done and dusted with quickly

"Every match seems to be having interference from VAR. Its ridiculous. Killed the game, the emotion and flow of the game. Get rid of this shit. Get rid of offside and we dont need it."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
VAR strikes again but this time IMO was correct but how it took so long is beyond me. 0-0

I think they blew up on Antonio far too early yesterday as well in the second half. Didn’t look like a clear offside to me yet it came straight back.
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Problem is they get it wrong no matter what they do. Take this tedious wait the linesman has to make for offsides. Yesterday the lino flagged, referee immediately whistled and a perfectly good goal was disallowed. The irony being that if they had waited the goal would have stood."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"No chance will they retrospectively change any results. Legal challenges galore would grind the game to a halt. All we will get is a ‘gee, sorry!’ And then next time when a Liverpool or other big club player actually does foul one of ours to score, VAR won’t look at it and we’ll get done twice by both sides of the same rule. As usual big clubs will benefit at the expense of everyone else by getting away with non calls on fouls that would be called on every other team. The game is fucking bent. It always has been but VAR has actually made it more bent somehow."

It's got to the point where you can't even celebrate a goal because some inept cսnt will be rolling back to five minutes before to try to find a way to rule it out. It's killing the game.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
I notice since the start of the season that the VAR decisions have become even more contentious. Is this the Mike Dean effect? Is he looking over their shoulders giving his warped sight of reality? I thought we got rid of the cսnt at the end of last season.

"""The handball penalty incident v Spurs on Wednesday, took quite a few looks and a bit of time, to come to the correct decision"" I thought I was obvious it wasn't a penalty in the first few replays and they spent the rest of the time desperately trying to find a reason to give a penalty?"

"nowt wrong with the technology it's the incompetent/corrupt/useless people using it. OK, we're usually a bit biased but anyone watching/reviewing that and thinking there was a foul ought to be embarrassed"

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Westside, second angle clearly shows it hit Cresswell then hit his hand. Doesn’t need the ref to go to a screen because it’s obvious. Same as the pen at forest, clear penalty after one or two replays."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Goal line decisions. Other than that another means to fix matches to ensure big teams win. It gets confusing when the top 6 play each other. See how they will try and avoid changing decisions in the Man Utd vs Arsenal game today.
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"If you have to look at it a few times then it’s not clear or obvious. The handball penalty incident v Spurs on Wednesday, took quite a few looks and a bit of time, to come to the correct decision."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"LAF 12:50 Sun Sep 4 Re: VAR - What is it good for? Why not do as they do in rugby? If ref goes to monitor, let’s hear the discussion between him and Stockley Pk. “Is there any reason why I cannot award the goal?” Let’s hear them reason it out and strive towards a decision they both would stand by. That said, yesterday’s should have had absolutely no intervention from the busy twats. This, oh and the whole thing stinks of Mike Dean"
