Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"If anyone has enjoyed ""Yellowstone"", I can recommend ""1883"". John Dutton's ancestors on a wagon train type thing. Good cast, good acting - so far (I'm two episodes in, and had to watch the second straight after the first). The latest series of Gomorrah is excellent as well. Can't remember who recommended it on here a few years ago, but whoever it was - cheers!"
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"If you've got hookey telly then I recommend finding Station Eleven (actually on HBO Max). Flu-based apocalypse drama that bounces around three different times. Watched the first two and I think it's got legs if you're into that sort of thing. Mackenzie Davis and Himesh Patel star at the moment, but I assume the cast is going to be added to. Something to watch while waiting for The Last of Us anyway."

Wheel of Time is shit and has 1/10th of the budget of GoT and like one good recongnisable actor. Not sure how Amazon what to rival HBO and Netflix as a streaming service if they don't want to spend. 2nd season of The Witcher is excellent.

"Joe C 10:22 Tue Dec 28 There's bits of his Robot books that continued after Foundation that are in this first series. You can watch it as a stand alone series, but if you've read all the books (were there 7?), it helps!"
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"You absolutely do not have to have read Asimov’s books to watch Foundation. I’ve read them and the series (so far) is only very loosely based on parts of the first book. But, it’s still very good. Got better as it went along, and the last couple of episodes were superb - looking forward to the second series. Lee Pace particularly was excellent"

"BillC79 8:53 Tue Dec 28 Foundation is based on the Asimov series of books, so it helps if you've read them. It's ok - got Jarred Harris in it, so can't be bad really. Invasion was ok as well. Nothing that hasn't been done before though."
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"Has anyone watched either of the sci fi series on Apple? One called Foundation, the other called Invasion. Just wondering if they’re any good. Agreed with those that likes White Lotus, Ted Lasso and Succession. Watched Wheel of Time on Amazon - alright if you liked GoT style stuff"

"If you want to be up to date, you have to either pay for it, or nick it off the internet at the mo. The Paramount Channel has shown the first two series, but still no sign of the third and fourth. Paramount+ is launching in the UK early next year and will be included with Sky Q - so should be available then"

"Irons10 9:41 Mon Dec 20 That's good to hear. I've been late to the party with Yellowstone but watched them all this year, and it's easily the best thing I've watched in a long time."
