"zico - agree with you on all of that. Especially ‘No Country Fir Old Men’, which bored me greatly. Off to see Spider Man: No Way Home in a bit, looking forward to that"

"Joe C 1:36 Mon Dec 27 Indeed, it would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. I find I can appreciate something without actually enjoying it and it was one of those for me. Bit like the Coen brothers films, in general they just aren't my thing but I appreciate the artistry that goes into it. No Country For Old Men for instance I didn't enjoy at all but can understand why many did. Di Caprio and Lawrence are good actors though. Watched The Revenant again and found that fantastic again second time around."

Manuel Agreed I also watched Polanski's Oliver Twist by far the best version.

"I finally got around to watching A Wonderful Life, never fancied it before even though it always gets voted as the bestest Christmas film ever made. Maybe it hasn't aged well as I didn't think much of it, but the last 20 mins were really good and it does send quite a powerful message that you should be grateful for what you have and things can always be a lot worse. Watched Oliver Twist again last week, which I think is a great film/tale. The Roman Polanski 2005 version is the best one with Don Logan playing Fagan."

"zico - if everyone liked the same thing, it would be boring fella. Watching it like a Robocop or a Starship Troopers and as an Americanised commentary on the media and the politicising of dire situations it worked really well. Glenn Close and Jonah Hill were what spoilt it for me as unnecessary characterisation"

"Joe Interesting how we all have different tastes. I was just about to post how bad I thought it was, gave it 40 minutes then wound through to the end to see what happened. Was wondering why such stars put their name to it but there you go we all like different things. Obviously just not my thing."

"Just watched Don’t Look Up - enjoyed that. Can totally see that’s how American media would react. Di Caprio and Jennifer Lawrence we’re great as the leads, but Cate Blanchett steals every scene she was in"

DoD I love all that Arthurian stuff. I thought Green Knight was an absolute pile of steaming poo. It wasn't helped by the fact that everyone in any way associated with the production appears to be a massive woke cսnt.

"Manuel 4:58 Sat Dec 25 I think the ending ruined Muscle as an ending does to many films. WTF did those photos show??!! I like Fairbrass films generally and as you say he plays the roles well. Sat down last night thinking somehow Netflix had got the latest Spider Man. 30 minutes in I realised it was Holland's first one which I'd already seen! Still enjoyable, although I'd rather sequels went back to the easier to understand 1,2,3 format!! I hope they don't, but if they did ever remake Back to the Future they could do worse than have Tom Holland in the title role."

"Watched Belfast last night , great cast and a good watch about a community experiencing the start of the troubles during 1969 A bit twee at times but a good watch. Also watched The Green Knight, well made worth a watch if you like all that Arthurian stuff."

"Zico - I liked Muscle, and I like Fairbrass in all his films. Yes he plays the same role all the time, but he is fucking good at it and very convincing. I admit Muscle was pretty dark and not an easy watch at times, I think what I took from it was the other bloke, who Fairbrass befriended at the gym, was having it rough at work and with his missus and was depressed, but after what happens with him after meeting Fairbrass he would have gone back to his previous 'shit life' in a heartbeat."

"As mentioned on another thread see if you can watch more than 15 minutes of a 2016 film on Prime called Christmas Eve starring Patrick Stewart, amongst other ex 'famous 'actors. I rarely turn off a film after 15 mins but it's already top of my list for the worst Christmas film of all time. Makes the Santa Clause look like Citizen Kane! The Unforgivable with Sandra Bullock is an odd one. Must say she acts superbly in a very different role for her but the film isn't great. Caught a film called ""Muscle"" with Craig Fairbrass. That's two hours I won't get back. haven't got a clue what it was all about!"

"Why is it obvious trash? It didn't have to be a cynical cash in. There's been recent sci-fi reboots like Mad Max, Prometheus and Blade Runner which all had great visual flair and narrative ideas. Matrix Resurrections had none of that. I wasn't surprised by the shitty script but the drab visuals and the action set pieces mostly being badly done retreads of the first film made it embarrassing."

I thought Last Night in Soho was below average. Has anyone seen House of Gucci? Looks good with a decent cast. Even Lady Gaga looks a decent actress. The Macbeth film might also be worth a look. If only for Frances McDormand who’s a fantastic.actress.
