Trundle How the fuck am I 'hoist by my own petard'. This is an opinion site. Since I didn't put quotation marks around 'dodgy' then 'dodgy' is clearly my opinion. Anyone would think you are just sore that you made a fool of yourself with your 'Prey' post just now.

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Trundle You can enter 'IMDB ratings algorithm in Google' and choose from a myriad of articles. It's precised here on Wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMDb#User_ratings_of_films 'As one adjunct to data, the IMDb offers a rating scale that allows users to rate films on a scale of one to ten. IMDb indicates that submitted ratings are filtered and weighted in various ways to produce a weighted mean that is displayed for each film, series, and so on. It states that filters are used to avoid ballot stuffing; the method is not described in detail to avoid attempts to circumvent it. In fact, it sometimes produces an extreme difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean.' 'Dodgy' is clearly my opinion, based on the ownership of IMDB and my understanding of those articles. Anything else you want to try?"

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I’ve never been a fan of marking systems for subjective experience. One person’s 80% is another person’s 60% while feeling similar positivity. Clearly there are hated movies by the large majority but loved by a minority. I dont like any comic book movies so would always mark them as 5%.

"Post a link up that proves that ""IMDB use some kind of dodgy algorithm to 'adjust' audience scores"" in those exact words, please?"

"Lee Trundle 10:21 Thu Aug 25 'I suppose audiences are chained down and forced to watch it, Surf?' I shouldn't think so, Trundle, it's very enjoyable as I've said all along. Try to read the instructions before you flame, or you might get burnt."

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Its a difficult time for cinemas. Obviously in the pandemic people got out of the habit of going and with all the streaming/stealing services about now people who are struggling financially are more likely to watch at home on their decent sized tv. Studios are also playing safe with franchises like all the Marvel shit and endless sequels rather than taking risks on things aimed at those with a mental age above 12. Tv is seemingly taking over those productions. To support Curzon cinemas I had one of their yearly passes up to about May and didn't renew when it ran out because I was going to be away for a couple of extended periods in May & June. Was thinking I might renew after but the only thing I have seen that I might want to watch was the remastered version of Paris, Texas. And I have that at home"
Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Rotten Tomatoes is pointless anyway because of the way it uses metrics. The audience score is fine as it simply records the percentage of people who gave it 3.5 or more out of 5. Critics don't always use that scale, and in some cases no scale at all. A 3 out of 5 gets a hit, while a 6 out of 10 gets a miss and it's all regardless of the actual content of the review. Also, worth pointing out, as weirdly a lot of people don't seem to get it, a 90% score is not the same as scoring a film/TV series a 9/10. It just means that most people thought it was OK, not necessarily great."

"Prey has become the single most watched movie or TV series on Hulu. I suppose audiences are chained down and forced to watch it, Surf? Or they've fixed the viewing figures?"

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"The audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes can't really be believed on anything with any sort of political content. Review bombing is rife in both directions. And the critics' score will always be higher than the audience score for any film with a liberal slant. For instance, the abomination that is She-Hulk started with a critics score of about 87% (yes, really. lolllllzzzz), where it remains, and an audience score of about 68%, which seemed suspiciously high. It got review bombed down to 62% (lots of 1/2 star ratings) and has since been review bombed by the liberals back up to an unfeasible 74%. Almost every rating that's accompanied by an actual review slates it. Both Rotten Toms and IMDB use some kind of dodgy algorithm to 'adjust' audience scores (usually upwards). Also, be aware that Rotten Tomatoes is part owned by Warner Brothers and IMDB is entirely owned by Amazon - then follow the money. And I suspect Disney have a team of people actively fixing these 'charts'. It's also rumoured that Disney hold some sway over the critics by way of only giving previews to those who give them generous reviews."

"Wasn't the chick also red in the original woke Predator movie, Sold0? Her knowledge of the Predator pretty much wins the day for Arnie, plus also she turns up at the end to rescue him after he's won."

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"That's true. I don't care about public reviews anymore than the critics. I judged it for myself and thought it was crap. Not sure why you are accusing others of being wound up whilst dismissing those that might have given it a bad review as 'spittle flecked red faced incels that haven't seen it, incredulous with rage a woman could possibly be cast as the protagonist.'"
Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"You can count on a lot of user reviews being spittle flecked red faced incels that haven't seen it, incredulous with rage a woman could possibly be cast as the protagonist. Sort of like a handful of people on here. Not sure why people are getting wound up by the dog either! Some oddballs on here."

Prey was awful and made a mockery of the original Predator films. A little girl and a dog? Fuck off!

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I did mean to post that. It was a redeeming feature of the film and a nice surprise. I expected them to have cockney accents.
