NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

I enjoyed this: Mic'd up at the Pro Bowl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXlKPUZks8Y Part of it is really liking Payton and Brees. That said the do often sound like old white men trying to be hip and failing.

I think Smith is a great bit of business considering the situation.

"At the end of the day, he's not a next level QB, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse for the Chiefs. Brilliant at game management and with a decent set of players around him he'll be winning more than he loses. And his favourite ever receiver was Big Verne at the niners - they had telepathy I tell ya ;o)"

"I wouldn't be unhappy about Smith joining, but having followed him for my team (49ers) and my missus's team (Chiefs) for so long, I just think he's missing that ""je ne sais quoi"". But as ES has highlighted, if DILFER can win a ring, then who knows..."

"I'd love us to develop a young QB for half a dozen years and develop a dynasty but we tried that with Rg3 and there's no guarantees that will pay off. right now we need stability and Cousins had no intention of signing the deal Smith has agreed to, and to go in to a third year with him on a franchise tag and paying probably close to $30m for one season again was utter madness. we instead get a steady pro for four years and we save a few dollars that can help strengthen our defence. I hate the redskins GM Bruce Allen so I don't think we'll ever win anything while him and Snyder are at the club but I'm not unhappy about Smith joining us"

Mahomes looks an outstanding prospect. I think he'll do well for the Chiefs. Smith is a bit of a weird one. He's a very good QB without ever being spectacular which is probably what you need to be a Super Bowl winner.

"Redskins have just traded for and given 90 million to Alex Smith, bit of a weird one, obviously didn't want to break the bank for Cousins but Smith is basically just an older version of him"

"Watched Pats v Jags but not Eagles v Vikings. Fucking Pats AGAIN, really thought the Jags had the better of them but the fucking Pats are the Man U of the NFL. Unless you are a Pats fan you want ANYONE but them to win but you always know they will win (most of the time) I just hope the Eagles can beat them at the superbowl as I fucking HATE Brady, his face annoys me"

"What the fuck happened to the Vikings? Get all the way to the championship game and then not bother turning up? I didn't see all of the game and looking at the stats it doesn't suggest a trouncing. 22 first downs is pretty decent (Eagles had 27). What happened to the Vikings defence? Fuck me, talk about a choke."

"Fuck me that was hard to watch at times, thought it was over when lewis fumbled. Brady and amendola are immense when the pressure is at its highest but the Jags cost themselves by getting far too conservative and hoping that Brady wouldn't be able to do what he's done time and time again."

Phenomenal stuff. Was nervy at half time and thought they'd come back a bit but the Birds were in no mood for anything other than perfection.
