That's how their influence gets passed on. But it doesn't guarantee success when the assistants move up. Lord knows how many Belichick devotees there have been crawling around the Patsies' training facilities over the past 20 years. But not too many of them made it big elsewhere. Belichick just knows his stuff. Ultimately, others go off and be themselves - lesser versions of him."

Almost everyone else there has come and gone in terms of players and assistant coaching and he still wins all the time. Even if the rest of the division is so consistently bad that they get a free pass into the playoffs and 6 guaranteed wins most seasons. None of his coaching staff are able to replicate what he does after they leave, and none of his players ever play anywhere like as well again despite having lived in the system.
