NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Keenum looked like he was throwing ok in the first half and they were in the game.

"Yeah i was quite impressed with how the skins played against the patriots especially the first half. The defence is decent and they can get after the QB, think they just get gassed as they spend so much time on the field when the offence cant do anything no matter which of the 3 QBs are playing. Haskins apparently looked awful again, he may have to start next week if Keenum can't go (very glad i have the Bills defence next week in fantasy)"

"Not the most exciting game last night, but would say that the better teams will easily beat the vikings who didnt overly impress (though their record means it could have been an off day) and missed the awesome Thielen big time and the skins are sort of bizarrely not a million miles away from being at least competitive. Thought they had the better of the first half and were unlucky to go in losing and overall I thought they defended well. Shame that their entire offense consists of Peterson and McLaurin. And fuck you Dalvin Cook. Had some pennies on him to get 100 yards and a TD and the bastard only got 98 yards."

"They just finished uploading the 100 Top Characters on NFL films, fun watch if you ignore the celebrity commentary. (Though to be fair it is interesting to see who people support/ed as kids) Some interesting guys over the years Saints had some great colourful coaches, but always out of their prime Bum Phillips Ditka (remember the dreadlocks) Hank Stram (matriculate the ball down the field, boys)"

Josh Gordon going on IR and most likely going to be released. Just when i thought the receivers could become a strength after the Sanu signing it takes another big loss

Friendly reminder to all that the Yank' clocks dont go back for another couple of weeks so all NFL games will be on an hour earlier than normal this weekend.

"Met Jerry Rice a few years back and he still looked fit as a fiddle. Most records in sport are there to be shot at, but his are literally impossible to ever chase down, as they are fucking ridiculous. The seasons when we had him and Terrell Owens with Steve Young throwing them the ball were marvellous."

best leader I've seen on a defence other than singletary. our sean taylor would have got close to that level if he hadn't been killed. deion's a bit marmite for me but some of his celebrations were funny when scoring a td :.)

Looking into the Sanders move it does seem like a very good half season rental option. Trade away what is likely a low 4th and swap it with what will be a high 5th and then you trade away your 3rd round pick but will more than likely get a 3rd round compensatory pick if/when he moves on when his contract runs out at the end of the season. Essentially gave up nothing but moving down a few spots in the draft

"I'd say the Patsies got the best of those deals with Sanu - he's an almost perfect fit for them. A second rounder is OK for Sanu and Belichick always picks up good quality in rounds three, four and five of the draft anyway. Sanders is a good pick-up for the 49ers. His age might be an issue, but given the start San Francisco have had this season, he could keep them in ""win now"" mode. Two good deals, those."

"Saw the Patriots also acquired bethel who for some reason the ravens cut. Harbaugh was obviously very unhappy they released him and called him ""the best special teams player in the league"" Pats probably now have the best 2 special teamers with Matthew slater being a borderline hall of fame level player if people ever do get in on special teams contributions alone. seems they cut him so they would get some sort of compensatory pick but i have no idea how that system works."

"I actually think both teams have done pretty good business with Sanu and Sanders, with both being the exact positions that needed strengthening. People are probably basing their Sanders valuation on the fact that he seems better at nicking a TD, though I've always thought Sanu was constantly popping up with quality plays to get his team up into the redzone. Not exactly a hard choice between Sanders and Pettis for us as the main man."

"Sounds like tge niners were in for sanu too, i did think a 2nd round pick might have been a bit high but i guess its wgat the niners couldnt match, He's got 2 years left on his deal and is younger than sanders, and cheaper but still seeing lots on twitter that sanders should have commanded a higher draft capital than sanu"

Niners give up a 3rd and 4th for Emanuel Sanders and Denvers 5th rounder. At 32 he wont cost a fortune to extend. Niners need to preserve cap space to resign free agents next year. Next years draft we will have a 1st round two 5th's and a 6 and 7th rounder. Niners adding pieces without mortgaging the future. We should be able to sign Buckner and Armstead next year and a few others.
