NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"wrong, our ground is too shallow a rake for NFL, Spurs remove football pitch to an even lower NFL pitch, and their dressing rooms are purpose built for huge squads ."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
I see it's only two UK games this year. Both at the second biggest club ground in London (our ground would be so much better for NFL). Dolphins v Jags Jets v Falcons
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Please let the Jags be the hard knocks team this year. Please please please please please.

"Every defense coach in the AFC South just dusted off Buddy Ryan's old 46-Bear playbook. ""Bring the secondary up to the line, Chuck, take 'em straight through the tight end: it's a free run at the QB..."""

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"TM - caught up on film of Carter since we picked him. Looks a very fine RB for a 4th round pick. Clearly, we've benefited from the fact that he shared running duties with Williams at college. So we've got a talented RB with a low-round pick who isn't as bashed up as some college running backs. LaFleur has a lot to work with on offense next season. I just read a really good piece (paywall) in the US about Saleh and how he viewed the draft. It seems that he wanted Ty Campbell as CB in round 2, but Jacksonville picked him with the opener in the round - so he was happy to go with another offensive pick instead. Apparently, Saleh has told LaFleur and Douglas that hew was happy to make this 'their' draft on offense. He wants to take a good look at the defensive talent he has on the roster (we spent heavily on defense in free agency) and then seek to add more pieces on defense with the next draft (where, again, we have a lot of top-end picks). I like his approach. He seems to think and plan like a head coach, even for a newbie. Makes a refreshing change from Gase."

"Rivera even managed to pick up an underrated free agent running back in Jaret Patterson who went to the same high school as Chase Young, supports the Skins and in one game against Kent State last season fan for 400yds & 8 touchdowns. it's seems him being built like Darren Sproles put teams off :.)"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"TM - The non-skin Skins have drafted really solid players across the board. You're going to be competitive in that division again for a few years. It's quite a turnaround. Likewise, I'm so pleased with Saleh, Douglas and the Jets. Saleh did what we've needed our HC to do since Ryan left: focused on offense. He's won a lot of hard-bitten fans over with that - even if the players don't work out. It shows real intent to move the football. We have to wait and see what his play-calling is like, but I'm in on Saleh now. Within the space of a few months, he, Douglas and LaFleur have made the Jets look like a professional unit again. Long way to go - we had the weakest roster in the league last year (Jacksonvillle tanked, whereas we actually tried, and failed, to win some games!). But it's a really encouraging first draft. Some risks, but risks we needed to take."

"A+ rating for Ron Rivera & the front office. Covered every position we needed strengthening and signed solid characters with every pick SB ""SB, don't be shocked if you take RB Javonte Williams tonight. I watched him & his RB partner Michael Carter a lot last season playing for North Carolina, they're both very talented"". I was a couple of rounds late, but you picked up a great back in Carter"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Blimey - all Jets fans are overjoyed with Saleh and Douglas (GM) in this draft. EVERYBODY assumed Saleh would take a corner or safety with the second pick of the second round - because he's a defensive coach and we haven't spent three top picks on offensive players since the 1980s. But he goes out and lands a wide receiver with huge potential in Elijah Moore. Nobody, including me, was expecting that. Fair play to the new head coach - he's going all-in on moving the football and having a Jets team that actually threatens to score points for the first time since the early 2000s. This is highly unusual for us (we're usually so focused on defense in the draft). And everybody is enjoying it. I really wasn't sure about Saleh because I thought he was going to be yet another defense-first HC when our problem has been low scoring for more than a decade. He's thrown that out of the window in this draft: picked a QB, given him the best guard in the draft to protect that QB, and now given the kid a good wideout to aim for, too. Can't fault that. We've now got a pair of good WRs in Mims and Moore, plus a decent slot guy in Crowder, plus a good TE target in Chris Herndon. Plus QB protection. Poor Sam Darnold never had this. Wilson can have no complaints if this doesn't work out. Not sure when Saleh is going to go 'home' and pick a defensive player (we were so poor last season that we have a lot of defensive needs, too). But not sure I care at this point: it's an encouraging new era in Gotham."

"As a Giants fan, feel like we had a magnificent evening. Got another body for Jones to aim at. And if it goes pear shape next season. Management have at least 2 first round picks to bargain with next year. As for the Bears. Got the franchise QB they been looking for since the 80's. And looks like he could be a steal for them. Everybody happy. Go G Men."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
You always have to be careful with highlights reels. But here's Ty Campbell's highlights reel. He looks like the sort of corner who is physical and straight in the receiver's face. I like it. We could do with some of that. We've had a few shrinking violets since Revis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv4h53cAsPE

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I like the look of Williams at RB. But, after two offensive picks in the first round (and having traded away our third rounder to move up to take Vera-Tucker) I suspect Saleh will insist (probably quite rightly) on meeting a glaring defensive need: cornerback. Would not be surprised if we took Ty Campbell, the CB out of Georgia. He looks like a really solid corner. Whether he's worth the second pick in the second round, I'm not sure: Douglas/Saleh might try to do something clever in order to trade down and still pick him up. We have so many needs, coming from such a low quality roster last year, that we need top-quality players all over the pitch! Williams would be an ideal RB for us. But I can't see it happening. Saleh will want to improve his defense and will be on the look-out for a new Sherman."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"TM - yep, got to agree with you about Saleh, and Douglas. We haven't played a game under Saleh yet, but he's definitely making the sort of sensible and strong decisions that we haven't had at head coach since Herm Edwards. As you know, I wasn't sold on him and thought we needed an offensive HC. But bringing LeFleur with him was a smart move and has taken the pressure off him on offense. Should allow him to focus on his favoured defense. Likewise, big bonus having Douglas as GM: a former guard who seems to understand the benefits of having strong groups in the less glamorous positions. Vera-Tucker is arguably the least glamorous pick in the first round. But my guess he will be a starter for many years. It's a strong move to protect a rookie QB. Crystal - you're right: I thought the Bears hadn't given up much to shift to #11. But just seen what they handed over. There was talk of them jumping up to #6 or #7 to take a QB, so I was thinking they might break the bank (draft-wise). They didn't do that, but you're right - they traded a lot for nine places. A lot of analysts think Fields was over-rated at college. I'm less sure and still think he could be a good dual threat QB. He was always up against good opposition in that college conference. So he had a few more bad games than the likes of Wilson last season. But that doesn't make him a poor player. I don't think he's the second coming, but he should be a solid starter for Da Bears. Jury's out on Wilson because he came from a smaller college, but I totally get why the Jets took that risk. He makes things happen and we could do even with the mere excitement of just having that kind of QB. I can't complain. He needs some extra muscle, though. And maybe a wrinkle or two. He looks about ten! Going to be an interesting division again next season, with sides led by Wilson, Allen, Tua and Mac Jones. No more Fitzmagic in the AFC East!"

"SB, it shows what a good coach salah is by getting a top lineman for the young QB. I like ja'mar chase, but joe burrow would get far more out of having penny sewell in front of him for the next ten years. funniest part of the night was the top two cornerbacks going just before dallas selected"
