"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Irons - yeah, Winston could do better than expected as a starter for the Saints. I've always thought there is genuinely a decent QB in there somewhere. Obviously, he tailed off in a big way at Tampa, having been the #1 pick. But in there somewhere is a good QB trying to get out. Maybe Payton will find him."

"southbankbornnbred 12:48 Wed Aug 25 Probably very true, although celebrities love to look gansta until it gets real. But to topic at hand: Winston looks a bit like a quarterback with the Saints. Hopefully that means Hill can slot in an fill some holes in the rest of the offence. The defence has been scary (to me, not to the opposition)"

"Btw, Wilson was 9 of 11 against Green Bay. Not 20 from 25. Hence his stint was short."

IoC - don't get me wrong: it's not exactly plush out there. But it's not among the roughest neighbourhoods in LA. I can imagine what the Lakers and Kings made of it: they were probably getting whinged at by the celebs who love to turn up courtside for photo ops!

"southbankbornnbred 12:16 Wed Aug 25 I remember 20 years or more back, the Kings and the Lakers played in Inglewood or close and wanted out, partly because of the neighbourhood. But things change."

"Another promising, albeit short, showing from Zach Wilson. You never can tell with pre-season games, but he's certainly easing himself into the new system. Completed 20 out of 25 passes and looked like he actually knew what he was doing within a system that seemed effective. Believe me, for the post-Gase Jets that is progress!"

"Ha! Yep, Inglewood is hardly Compton. It's basically LA's version of Hounslow: underneath the landing path for LAX and not exactly plush. But it's not as rough as some gaffs in LA."

"Just got home from the Niners V Chargers preseason game at Sofi stadium. What an amazing stadium, it really is something. It's in the middle of Inglewood which is a rough area, but fuck me it's easily the best stadium I've ever been to. Bit hard to get to you have to drive thru the streets of Inglewood for a bit once you exit the 405 freeway but other than that the place is perfect. Padded seats, insane circular video board called the Oculus is hanging from the roof and is something to see. The audio inside is off the charts too. Family and I had a great time. Quite an experience. Trey Lance looked good too!"

"The Eagles are going to be absolute toilet this year. I see the Cowgirls are on Hard Knocks this year, does that mean Norf's brother is getting a bit of exposure. One of my favourite programs Hard Knocks although hard to watch that mob"

"The most refreshing thing to see, however, was Saleh and LaFleur constantly talking to their players, and gee-ing them up during the game in positive ways. They're obviously building a rapport with the team. Makes a big change from that bog-eyed useless twonk Adam Gase."

"Watched the Jets' regular pre-season game against that other lot from Gotham: it just reminded me how pre-season in the NFL is largely pointless beyond getting a run-out for your second and third stringers. For the quarter where the Jets lined up with Wilson at QB, he and they looked surprisingly comfortable with the system favoured by Saleh/LaFleur. It was hard to judge the new kid, though. And you could see some obvious areas where the Jets will remain weak until they've had another draft or two under Saleh. Can also see a couple of good players struggling in LaFleur's offense, because he doesn't use WIDE outs as often as his peers and will target more mobile slot-style receivers a little more regularly (which should suit Wilson). It has been fascinating watching them try to transition to a new system. Every now and then, when under pressure, the whole thing went completely tits up. Must be a fucking nightmare for younger players who've only ever learnt one playbook and now have to begin the process of re-learning their roles for the first time. Anyway - hard to judge on one pre-season game. But don't expect miracles from Gang Green for a while. It looked like hard work, but progress."
