"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Them are great stats. But no mention of Spygate and Deflategate. And the AFC East was absolutely dog shit during most of he's time. But you can only beat what's in front of you. Right.?

He has had an unreal career. None too shabby for a 6th round draft pick. Guess that'll mean Gronk retiring again too. Sure Rodgers wouldn't mind having Mike Evans at his disposal.

"Boots, yep: Tom Brady, one of the greatest players in NFL history, has retired aged 44. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback won seven Super Bowls in an astonishing career spanning 22 seasons. He won six of those titles with New England Patriots, where he spent 20 years, before his final Super Bowl triumph with the Buccaneers last year. Brady is a five-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and three-time NFL season MVP. BBC"

As we all know Scorch. Jerry does like making them large statements of intent. So selling the farm for a quick fix isn't off the drawing board.

"On Payton and the Saints. Of two minds. 1) I hope he doesn't see the writing on wall regarding something fans don't know about. 2) While he changed the culture of the Saints completely the players he has there now are not his kind of razzle and dazzle team. A new defensive mind might be better. Sill no Superbowl without him. If he moves on right away, more power to him. I am only really old enough to know a couple coaches before him but those were dire times."

On the name change - My CFL team growing up went from the Eskimos to the Elks. Which is fine I guess. Except that the Elks Lodge (ie. A group of Masons minus the secret stuff) was the most racist place to go in my town.

Rumours doing the rounds is Payton is being courted by Jerry Jones and he's Cowgirls. And the Giants hire Bills OC. Brain Daboll as the new HC. Hopefully we see a improvement on offence in the coming season. Which to be honest ain't much of a task. Go G Men.!

"El Scorchio 4:17 Thu Jan 27 Re: NFL (since 2016) Sounds like WFT will either be the Red Hogs or the Commanders. Commanders being the less shit alternative. Owch Not for me Scorch, the Hogs would be a reference to the great offensive line they had back in the 80s under Joe Gibbs"

Looks as the Broncos will appoint Nathaniel Hackett as Head Coach. Reckon they'll go for a Rodgers/Devante Adams double now.

Sean Payton leaves N'orleans after 16 years. Not everybody's cup of tea (Bountygate etc!) but oversaw a consistently excellent regime in the deep south. If ever there was a man who needed to have a break and take a year off for his own good...

Just been catching up with the games... https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jan/24/nfl-playoffs-bills-chiefs-patrick-mahomes-josh-allen-football I'd go along with this article... one of the most incredible games not only of NFL but of sport... quite fucking brilliant... and to be fair the 3 play off games were not far behind... last month or so it's been absolutely top notch viewing... love watching the Kitty Kats... real fairytale David and Goliath stuff but think Mahomes and co will just be too strong ... just hope the Championship games can live up to the excitement of these... can't wait

"If Buffalo Squibs the kick off, forcing the return guy to pick it up and make a play then the Chiefs lose""¶.kicking it into the end zone and giving Mahomes 13 seconds is on the coaching staff. Vinci already beat the chiefs earlier this year. The Chiefs defence can be scored on, don't be so sure the Chiefs win it all. Football games are won and lost in the trenches. Any given Sunday any team can win. I like the Niners match up against the Rams, McVay doesn't have the answer and our deep D line takes over games as the o line tires which is why Stafford scored 7 points in the second half against us last time, Dak was embarrassed all game and so was Rodgers. DeFense wins championships."

"The thing with winning runs against teams is they have to end eventually and not hard to see why the Rams would be the favourites when we're so dependant on defence due to having arguably the worst QB left, albeit he's probably better than half what the teams have in the nfl. We'll certainly be a better test than the beaten up bucs I'm sure, but whoever wins won't be beating the chiefs in the final anyway. That cսnt mahomes and Allen showed that along with Herbert there are some top drawer younger QB's out there."

"Nuts - the 49ers are definitely on a roll. Momentum and confidence with them. But beware those fecking Rams - at some point that extremely expensive, star-studded line-up might click. And, somewhere in there, Stafford does have an arm."

"Niners have the best Defence and the best run game left in the tournament. We ran all over the Rams twice already this year, first game was a beat down, second game we took the Rams best shot and still won. There's a reason why the Niners are 6-0 against these Rams. And don't forget we got a Deebo and a Kittle,"

"Rams - Niners Chiefs - Bengals Should be two good games. I'll take the stray cats to win it all - just so that Jets fans can boast that we beat the SuperBowl winners during yet another shite season... Realistically, looks like the Chiefs v Whichever of Stafford or Jimmy G holds up against the rush best... Niners/Rams could get very ugly and entertaining."
