NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
I thought Purdy did alright. I doubt we'll see much of a drop off if Jimmy G is out for the season. Havin Mr Irrelevant as your starting QB in the play-offs might be the fairy-tale story everyone likes.
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Yeah broken foot for jimmy and asking a lot for Mr irrelevant to get us any further than the play offs, though you never know. Other than the seahawks it's been a very bashed up division with the rams and cardinals having the sort of amount of injuries to key players that we normally have."

"Depends what you mean by football, swt. Been to Canadian football games and a proper football (World Cup qualifier) game in Edmonton with temperatures below 0 C in November. Average high/low in Edmonton in Nov is 1C/-8C Green Bay is 8C/-2C Minneapolis is 6C/-3C"

"Absolutely! Joint coldest place football is played as well I think, so they are forgiven for having a roof! (Which is the only reason I didn't pop them on anyway TBH)"

"Scorch, don't forget the Vikings, well at least when they were playing outdoors in the old Met stadium, they didn't call it the black and blue division for nothing."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"It's a lot more proper and old school in some of those North and Northeastern parts. Some of the more historical teams, outdoor football in the winter with no dome, teams like the Bills, Browns, Bears, Packers, Steelers and Giants don't have cheerleaders. I think at Lambeau, a lot of the seating is still planks of wood but I don't know if that's true."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Philly, cough son They get a bit of a bad rap, but they're basically west ham. Hostile to the opposition and create a good atmosphere, but don't tolerate any complacency or shit from their own team. Partly why I enjoy it more there than all the RAZZMATAZZ elsewhere. Less contrived"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Third this season herm, had to fly home last night so won't be there tonight but going back for the home play off games (if we don't screw it up from here) I love it tbh. Been to titans and a few others and they feel like a show.. eagles feels like sport with an actual atmosphere as opposed to a manufactured one. My seats (I say mine...) are on the halfway line in 201 so just far enough back to be covered although you still get fucking soaked if the wind blows the wrong way. And to be honest, it's actually just great watching sport in a proper stadium. Steep sided so it doesn't actually matter how far back you are. Not like the cesspit"

"IsaacHock 12:30 The niners I think had some sort of similar mad stat a few seasons ago when they again had a beastly defense, like they went the whole regular season without giving up a rushing touchdown or something mad like that."

First time there Stewie? What did you think? Last time I was there it pissed down for hours. A roof would have been handy
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Just reading some of the previews for Fins v 49ers and came across this statement:- ""The 49ers' defense is on a similar streak against lesser opponents. The unit hasn't allowed a single point in the second half of a game since Week 7."" Thats mind blowing, right? Should be some game, specifically that side of the matchup."

"southbankbornnbred 10:29 - Interesting although I kind of knew it without actually knowing it, as already said the bnext couple of fixtures will tell us how our season will pan out but watching the Jets this season has been the best for a long time."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"holstebro, another good win and turner sticking to the run heavy gameplan. It was fitting that brian robinson had his first 100 yard rushing game on the day they honoured sean taylor. just tragic that the shitbag snyder allowed that joke of a statue (mannequin) to be displayed. robinson reminds me of riggo, and it's a miracle he avoided being killed and just months later is doing what he's doing. two tough games against new york next"

"Trunds - yep, two really tough games those. If I'm honest, I'm half-expecting two defeats and 7-6 going into the final stretch. But it makes a refreshing change even having meaningful games to play in December. In theory, we should have a couple of the injured players back, too. The roster is pretty bashed up at the moment."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Really interesting noises coming out of the Jets' training ground. Seems clear some players don't get on with Zach Wilson and find him hard work. Lots of thinly-veiled references to how they played as a team against the Bears and that they won 'as a group' without Wilson. They slightly over-celebrated with Mike White, too, which says a lot. White is never going to rip up the NFL, but he's a decent back-up and he's a popular and hard-working bloke. Wilson has a lot to do if he wants to improve as a QB and win his team-mates over."

"They were saying on Sky last night that you've got the Vikings after their bye week, and then the game after you've Bills after their bye week. That's a tough pair of fixtures!"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Incredibly, the Jets will enter December 7-4 and with a bunch of meaningful games for the first time in a decade. Solid win against the Fields-less Bears at the weekend, 31-10 and Saleh's defense continues to thrive now that they've slimmed down the playbook and focused on what the coach did well in San Francisco. Still an issue at QB amid Wilson's slump in form and inability to read certain plays that he should spot by now. I still think Wilson might come good. But Mike White is becoming a half-decent back-up - and, for once, the rest of the talent on the roster is just getting on with it rather than worrying about who is behind centre. Got the run game going again after the loss of Hall. But the 9-2 Vikings next week will be another level of opponent. Can't see us winning that one."

"The Vikings are fucking shit defensively and if they're shit, how fucking shit are the rest of the Black and Blue* division? *Not any more"
