"Darnold is OK - certainly a good backup QB. He got weighed down by the #3 overall pick tag in New York and, because he was chosen so high, the club felt obliged to start him from day one. But, like most QBs coming out of college, he clearly wasn't ready. He never learnt how to protect the football - and kept trying to make throws he could never complete. So he never had a period of just sitting and learning behind an established veteran QB. Which is how things used to get done. There's no doubt that use to make the transition easier. Now, almost all big money, high-pick QBs are thrown straight into the starter's role - with no experience of professional football - and people wonder why they're not immediately some sort of saviour for their franchise. Darnold's early injuries also didn't help, neither did the fact that he clearly hated playing in cold weather. He's a sunshine, west coast QB (college was USC etc). He'll be a decent backup for you. Both good teams, but you felt that Miami were always going to struggle when they lost the combination of RB and one their two main receivers in Waddle. It meant all attention fell on Tyreek Hill, who is very good, but was in double-coverage for so much of the game. It was a good game to decide the divisional title.
