One of my favourite albums Debs. Saw them at Brixton on that tour and they were superb. Note perfect but at huge volume. Also saw the first reunion concert at Brixton and when they played Mid Life Crisis they cut totally for the last chorus and let the audience belt it out. I teared up.

"FO Indeed And the sound is this: Hits rim of snare drum waits a long time Hits rim of snare drum again waits a long time Repeats... slowly Sings some unintelligible faux ghetto stuff in breathless, catch-in-the-throat, cry-baby voice Hits rim of snare drum waits a long time..."

"SurfaceAgentX2Zero 4:36 Tue Apr 2 Fair question, mate. I would guess its because it is the 'sound' rather than the artist that sells these days. Hence why 'the next big thing' always sounds only a little dissimilar to the previous next big thing, if you get my drift. Anyhow Craig Finn - God In Chicago."

BB that made me a bit sad. Music is that powerful though. I haven't been able to listen to Free by Stevie Wonder since my brother's funeral. I think i'd have a breakdown. Its just too painful and that was 29 years ago.

"Why do modern singers think that singing with a catch in the voice to simulate being on the edge of tears is in any way a substitute for singing with genuine emotion? They all sound like cry-baby cunts, especially the blokes."
