"TM - totally agree. However, us fans have to take at least a tiny bit of responsibility for some of that. In the past, we've all been quick to dismiss managers like Emery - those who failed at a big job when given a (relatively short, time-wise) chance in the Premier League. I can recall quite a few people on here trashing Emery after he failed to galvanise Arsenal. Several banging on about how he was only good for Spanish leagues etc. He's a good coach, and certainly a lot more progressive and up-to-date (tactically) than Moyes. IF the board finally decide to ditch Moyes (they do seem uniquely protective of him, despite a mostly awful 2022), then everybody (including some fans) need to be a bit more open-minded about the kind of coach who comes in. It's high time we appointed a manager who is genuinely regarded as a bit of a progressive and who makes a point of staying up to speed with tactical changes across the game. Moyes' tactics worked for us when teams were not familiar with them - but he has become extremely predictable and easy to counter. He has one way of playing and it is failing miserably right now. He feels like a 20th Century coach in the 21st Century. Looking beyond him, we have to be more progressive and seek to find a manager who is on top of current (and most likely future) tactical changes. That has become so important in an era of football where every minute detail is over-analysed by data teams etc. Tactics and formations are now every bit as important as the quality of your players - which is why some sides (with arguably 'lesser' players) are doing far better than us."

I hope I'm wrong. It's very frustrating when you see teams like Villa attract quality coaches like Emery yet our lot are putting out quotes saying Moyes would still be the type of manager they'd look for if hiring a new man. It's beyond bizarre and not remotely believable

"Quite a few of us said how negligent he was in January, and it's come back to bite us big time. Loads stuck up for him.. Same as the summer before when we didn't buy a striker.. Moyes should have gone before the world cup, that was the time to pull the plug. "I was advocating for Bielsa even before he got the Leeds job. No brainer if you're talking about managers who are free agents at the moment. Obviously Tuchel & Pochetino are on that list. Any of them would be a massive step up from the Dinosaur, though Pochetino has apparently ruled himself out due to his Spurs links. We must be the only circus that gives a manager another month after a year of dismal results and performances where it's so obvious that his time is up."

Especially under a manager like Bielsa who would definitely build a team around a player like Paqueta in his right position, probably bring out the best in Scamacca and I reckon he would convince Ashby to stay and give him the chance to make the RB spot his own."
