Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much. Breaking Bad, Homeland done Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?"
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
I see you finished it. Is it worth sticking with, I'm 3 eps in?

Swiss. wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 15:11The Jackal is excellent. The first 2 episodes are probably the worse so stick with it as it builds up. Cracking soundtrack as well. 8/10 on IMDB. Should have won over Shogun as best TV series at Golden Globes.
However it's totally unrealist that a ginger can get a babe as hot as Ursula Corbero![]()
I would like add that Shogun was also very good albeit a bit slow at times.

Due to extreme pressure from my youngest Son, I started 'the last of us' last night. Got halfway through an episode and couldn't understand the storyline at all until I discovered that I was watching episode 1 of series 2.
No need to call me a fucking idiot as my boy hasn't stopped since I told him.
Started again and I'll stick with it for now.
Will start mo land and will give dopethief a look over next couple of days.

Lol, I did something similar to that once.
Dope Thief is a decent watch. Might start Day of the Jackal, seems to have mixed reviews but I loved the film so will give it a try, I see it's been renewed.

Got around to watching Adolescents after initially giving it a swerve!
Thought it was very well made and acted, had read about people crying at the end or being moved so much it changed there lives
but i think that's just the buzz word and reaction from the "in crowd", so was disappointed with the ending, if you could call it that? and NO it made fuck all difference.
4 episodes was just about enough, but i wouldn't say it's a classic, worth a watch but not on my favorites list

Finished American Primeval and thought it was excellent, real gritty with the depiction of the frontier in Utah in 1857 and great cinematography, fuck those Mormon radicals and militia where a bunch of cunts! The series is loosely based on real events, pity its only 6 episodes.
highly recommended.

He's good in Warrior. Believable Yank accent as well.
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Not seen it. I've had enough of the Kray twins films.
I'm not saying I dislike Mobland I very much enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Maybe it's wrong to compare with GoL which has had 3 seasons. Directors with diffrent styles. Yes GoL is less believable but more entertaining. We still have to see where Mobland goes.

Great unique entertainment as apposed to Tom (I'm such a hammy hard man) Hardy telling everyone he's gonna break their bones etc etc.
Did you like Tom Hardy in Legend?

Manuel/Anon, don't bother if you are selective in what you watch. Im relatively happy to watch stuff that maybe isnt on the surface that great as sometimes a show can surprise you but Gangs of London is truly awful now. The first season was maybe ok and it is hugely action packed and stylishly shot but the characters is shit and the story line is pathetic, all style no substance.

I don't need to watch it, anything titled Gangs of London is nailed on to be shit. Why do people watch shit like this.

Watching American Primeval on Netflix, very well made and acted but the storyline is a bit grim and brutal, but captivating at the same time, based on true events from 1857.

Russ of the BML" wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025, 11:37 The only thing that offended me about Adolescence was how fucking boring it was. I mean, impactful subject matter but awfully done. IMO.
Also, where can I watch Mobland?
Paramount.+... doing a 7 day free trial ..lords knows why.
I haven't watched a second of it but can likely nail the general theme and lazy characters.
I quite enjoyed the film Mobland with the disco king ..one of those you werent expecting ...bit like blue ruin

I will get onto this, most stuff with Sean Bean is good and this looks good. Agree about the Scouse accent (and their slang) was the same in The Responder with Martin Freeman.
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Just finished This City is Ours on I-Player.....Personally I think it's the best drama I have seen for a very long time.Yes the Scouse accent is a bit annoying but it's a great watch with plenty of twists.
For once the woke BBC has actually produced a 9/10 drama.
