Finally got round to watching Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.  Loved certainly 1&3, 2 was ok but didn't care too much for The Crystal Skull and I had avoided this last one due to reading that it had gone "woke" and that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was annoying.  Yes she was a tad annoying, but I must confess is wasn't as bad as many of the reviews suggested.  I'd say it was certainly better than the Crystal Skull.  Was actually quite impressed with the de-ageing of Ford on the whole, but what I found a let down, (as with many films these days) was the over use of poor CGI.  Back in the day car/bike chases and action scenes were performed by stunt men and choreographed on the whole well.  The CGI in this at times took me back to the days of the 40's, 50's and 60's when it was clear someone was sitting in a stationary car with film of a road in the background and it didn't look particulatly good.  Not a patch on the originals but worth a watch if you haven't seen it and got nothing better to do.  Does make you feel old though, can't believe I was 14 when the original came out!

Watched 'Warfare' last night.
Considering it's based on a true story it's an uncomfortable watch.
It's friggin' brutal.
If anyone was ever in doubt, you can see why so many servicemen return with psychological problems.

5 of the top 6 of the cast are Brits as well.

MI was OK but ffs call it a day now. The plots are a fucking nonsense and noticed it lacked any humour that previous ones had a little. 

Marching Powder, assuming it is meant to be a comedy I found it quite funny and good watchable yarn. 'So yea, you are absolutely right, you are a cսnt, but you're my cսnt, and that matters to me'.

Saw the new Mission Impossible at the weekend
Could lose 50mins of its 2hr 50min running time but good fun once it gets going
Utterly ludicrous story of course with Tom going from submarines at the bottom of the Bering sea to hijacking a biplane in mid air to counter some gobbledygook science

Enjoyed The Accountant 2, couldn't remember much at all from the first one mind, and as usual Affleck delivers. I'd reco' Deep Water that he did a few years back with Ana de Armas.

Fountain of Youth (Guy Ritchie) is good fun. Sort of Indian Jones ‘ish with a bit of Da Vinci code but far from as good .

Watched Wolfs with Clooney and Pitt, only because I was on a plane, thought it would be shit but thought it was a decent yarn.

Saw MI part 2 last night. Was bit disappointed. Too emotional. Not as good as part 1 for sure. 

I quiet liked The Accountant 2

Looking forward to "Nobody 2".  The first was a hidden gem.  Saw Jason Statham's a "Working Man" on Prime over the weekend and it's ok for an action flick without much of a storyline.  Note it was co written and produced by Sly Stallone, but it won't be winning any oscars.  Would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't been plagued right the way through by continuous adverts for QUANTAS Airways.  Yes, I know you can pay to upgrade to an ad free version, but might consider that with You Tube who has gone absolutely nuts with non skippable ads now.

Couple of oldies I watched again last week.  "The Sentinel" with Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland is decent and saw that Christopher Nolan's "Inception" was on again.  So thought I would re watch to see if I understood it second time around.  Nope!

Funny how we all have different tastes. Saw Havoc tonight and struggled to finish it. I like Tom Hardy but I felt it was a CGI mess, bit like a video game. So sorry Swiss will have to agree to disagree on that one!

Watched Havoc last night. An excellent film. I will take my hat off to Tom Hardy for a great performance in this one. Gareth Evans of GoL fame has to be the best action directors around as the moment. 

Will watch that later.  Was going to watch it the other night but read that the other new action flick on Netflix "Exterritorial" was better although I must say whislt it was ok it was over long and got a bit dull.  Stumbled across on Prime "The Birdcage" last night. Seen it twice before and I stll find it funny. If anyone hasn't seen it I would highly recommend.  The late greats Robin Williams and Gene Hackman are brilliant and Nathan Lane should at least have got an Oscar nomination.  Only downside was five sets of adverts in one film all promoting a bloody Phillips Air Fryer!

The Birdcage is great and based on a French film La Cage aux Folles which is also very good. Yeah Havoc is just back to back action and violence on the usual Gareth Evans level. No time to catch your breath. Not sure why Tom Hardy walks around bow legged all the time like he spent his time riding horses. 

Will try Exterritorial tonight.

If you like black comedy then Another Simple Favour is quite fun. Not as good as the first one though. Also Screamboat is a great laugh if you like slasher comedies.

Indeed The Grey was a good film.  I forgot about the Commuter which is also decent enough.  Both Neeson and Statham would make a good "mature" James Bond!

Another film my mate told me about was The Ghosts of War a a 2020 British supernatural horror film.  Watched it last night.  Decent enough but still can't work out if I enjoyed it or not!

I thought A Working Man  the latest "kidnapped girl has tlo be saved and when I find you I'll kill you"' genre movie starring Jason Statham, as started by dear old Liam Neeson wasn't a bad effort. 



 

Yea you can't go wrong with Statham or Neeson, you know what you are going to get and can just sit and enjoy a film. A working man was good, maybe Statham's best for a while, and you always get a bit of humour chucked in. Was probably 15/20 mins too long though.

Agree on Neeson in his later career settling on a niche ..all copy & paste in the main.. but enjoyable .

 ..Saints and Sinners  was surprisingly good.

The Grey was relentlessly depressing but an excellent film
