The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

Post Leonard Hatred »

Another charity poncing thread.

My mate Pete Turner (Pig Destroyer's brother) is doing his annual sponsored motorbike ride in Brisbane, Australia, raising funds for men's mental health and prostate cancer.

Bung in a few quid if you can be arsed.

WHO has a recent tradition of making a collective donation via the fund in the name of PD and, now I have seen this on one of my infrequent visits to the site we will do so again this year.

I thought this thread was about Lady Brady but then suddenly I remembered that the diminutive Mr Sullivan is neither distinguished or a gentleman...

There's an awful lot of guilt by insinuation at play here.

These are, without doubt, noble causes. The insinuation being that if you don't dip into your sky for whichever cause is seeking money, then you clearly and obviously don't care (about the chosen charity and what it supports).

In reality, (I'm sure that) we all already have similarly noble (to us) causes we support and to support a cause presented thus would require us to un-support one or more that we already rate important enough to support and divert the money elsewhere.

I don’t get the umbrage here. If you support the cause and can afford to, lob a few bob on; if you don’t or can’t move on.

Some right miserable pricks on here.

Me too - never sponsor anyone just because they want to go for a run, regardless of the charity.

if there were sponsored events that added value then I might be interested. For example, I would sponsor a person picking up rubbish, raising money for xxx charity.

I'm going to get one of those Cadburys Cream Eggs and put it on the end of my knob in memory of Piggy.
