Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

If that's the case, the Sullivan has just taken a very low transfer quality bar and placed it beneath the Iranian Uranium processing plant.

We’ve known the drastic holes in our squad since Lopetegui was sacked if not well before
Obviously Man City & Liverpool shop in different markets to us but they are up and running while Sullivan sits around with his dick in his hand
You’d want players with us for the fitness camp & then the trip to America but as usual we will be under prepared & under cooked come Aug 16

Definitely need to make any swap on our terms
One or two in part exchange if their profile suits … you’d hope Potter would know about their character from his time there
Definitely don’t want their rubbish like Sanchez
Agree id prefer us to be scouting from smaller European clubs & the Championship

Was watching the Sky transfer show last night & they said Bournemouth scouted Truffert when they found Kerkez.
Took Kerkez but liked the other guy so kept monitoring him
And now they’ve taken him when they’ve sold Kerkez to Liverpool for a massive profit
Sounds far too professional for us

As mentioned Petkovic DewsburyHall & Chumbawamba
Definitely not Sanchez the keeper as he is Roberto after plastic surgery
If we can extract good value from players or cash+players then yes, but we have to be very wary of not just doing them a favour by giving away our biggest asset in exchange for helping them get shit off their books. We also have to be very wary of what wages these players are on. You get three players maybe, but they could all be on 100k a week and suddenly the wage bill is massive. I'd prefer to take all the money and invest it in players at smaller clubs on the continent for a lot more value but if Chelsea play hard ball (why is it us that ends up in these silly situations where a player and club in unison can hold us to ransom) we have to at least get the player(s) that suit us and we actually need, rather than taking what Chelsea don't want. We have to have the balls to walk away if any deal is not right for us. More than likely they'll come back with a better deal for us if they really want him.

Exactly the kind of signing that has killed our academy over the last 10-15 years in my opinion.
Yup- always a sticking plaster short term 'experienced' signing that blocks the route of a young player into the team. We're constantly signing these players.
But if a player comes through the academy and into the squad....no transfer fees, no agents' commission, no brown envelopes.

That's not how Sullivan's empire/business model works.
Bang on!

Great opportunity to see how the team is shaping up in a pre-season against Lille at the LS on 9th August.

Basically to see how many players are left and how many youngsters might get a chance to impress.

We've been linked to Truffert enough times (on claretandhugh, who we all know is Sullivan or his agent MATES) for the club to know about him.

We'll have some 30+ year old freebie lined up, I'd imagine.

I would take Elliot over McAtee if both are available.

We should be raiding Chelsea for the likes of Petrovic, Dewsbury-Hall and Chuwumeka if they are up for grabs.

Then turn to the Championship and the lesser european leagues. The St Etienne CAM/ST looks like a good punt
That's the sort of strategy we should be pursuing. Completely agree. Loads of value clearly floating around in a lot of the European leagues provided you can spot the talent successfully. It's been a rich hunting ground for loads of others.
