Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

However, the is absolutely no defending this signing on any level. Absolute fucking shitcunts. I can't waste too much energy hating footballers I don't know, but if I had to pick one, it would be Callum fucking.Wilson.

I'd rather have kept Danny Ings. At least i dont detest that cսnt.
Agree. It feels spiteful from Sullivan. As was mentioned by someone earlier. Surely of the out of contract players you’d pursue DCL. Although he probably wants more money.
it’s objectively such a pointless signing.

And yes the player is a cսnt and I believe had had a few choice words for West Ham in the past. I don’t want him here either.

Feels like Groundhog Day. What’s the difference between having Ings on the bench and Wilson? If you don’t have tactics that genuinely use a striker as a 1st choice strategy then what is the point? He’s literally going to setup exactly like he has in the last 6 months. It all feels a bit sad really. Like we are going to crash the car and the brakes are failing…

Course he would. Sullivan doesn’t give a shit seen as I’m sure he and his mate are doing ok out of it so it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. In fact in his head it’s probably sticking two fingers up at oiks like us as well so he’s probably revelling.

I actually don't like seeing Bowen up front, don't think he's good enough to lead a line and link play, looking lost at times when asked. Granted he works his bollocks off which I'd never question, however I just think it doesn't do us or him any favours. When he plays wide right though he comes to life in a big way. If part of the logic to solving our Striker situation is chucking him up top occasionally, then I can't agree with it.

I don't think anyone wants him up there but it's the reality that Potter doesn't really use traditional wide players... Which is why Bowen looked shit and anonymous for spells last season, its just the reality of what's likely to happen and not because we're short of strikers but to shoe horn him in.
I wasn't aware of that about Potter. Great fit for us bringing someone like that in when we had a Squad built for it. Kudus already gone so can see real weight behind what you say regarding wide forwards.

I agree, unfortunately like we saw a lot last season, Potter clearly doesn't agree.

Best we can hope for is Fullkrug stays fit for most of the season and Potter is brave with how we set up, using 2 wide men, Bowen being one of those. Can't see it, but live in hope.

I don't rate the manager and am not confident, but he's in charge, so I'll be getting behind him out the traps and hope im wrong.

No striker is going to do anything of note for us with such a woeful midfield and shit service. I'd like us to fix both positions this window, but contrary to some of you, I also see a dynamic midfield as more of a priority and then the striker as the cherry on top (but you need an actual cake first to put the cherry on) We will manage with Fullkrug/Bowen up front if they actually get opportunities provided for them, but I don't see where those are coming from unless we fix the midfield first. If I could only have one, it would be the midfield for now.

However, I do agree that getting in a decent striker would be much more of a statement move from the club. Still hoping that we address midfield quite soon and then find some resource for striker as well this summer.

Sir Alf" wrote: 23 Jul 2025, 15:13 Yep, until that central midfield is improved ( athletes, young, energy, pace ), we can fully write off the upcoming season. We need another striker and goalkeeper but the central midfield is key. Sell at least 2 from Alvarez, JWP, Paqueta, Guido, Soucek snd Irvine if, as it now seems to look, we are back to sell before we can buy.

Failure to do so will equate to a relegation fight regardless of manager imo
You don't need energy or pace to pass sideways and Potter's play book is a snakes and ladders board with the ladders removed.

Save the money for the next bloke in January.

I just want us to hurry up and buy a first team capable striker.  Then I'll worry less about the potential of Wilson and Antonio signing if we do.

It should have been the first player through the door the 1st day the transfer window opened.

Here's a weirdly on point article, especially with Allardyce being discussed earlier. I guess the 'Sullivan specials' are coming into focus a little more. Apologies if posted already.

Ryan Bertrand almost joined West Ham
Bertrand spoke about how he almost signed for West Ham at one point in his career. The left-back says West Ham’s owners wanted to sign him, but Sam Allardyce wasn’t so keen as he’d just signed Aaron Cresswell from Ipswich.
Ultimately, Bertrand found this situation strange and he ultimately rejected the chance to join West Ham.

“Yeah, a few offers. West Ham at the time. And that was a bit of a weird deal. Weird, weird deal,” Bertrand said.

“Why?” Bertrand was asked.
“Because I think Allardyce was there, and I think he just brought Cresswell from Ipswich. But then the owners wanted to bring me in. I don’t want to be that guy where the ownership brought me in and the manager’s like, I’ll play him, but I just brought my guy in,” Bertrand added.“It was just weird. And there was a few others.”

Potter turned off the deluge of goals against but did nothing else to convince
Always thought he needed to reshape the team by adding pace & energy to midfield & bring down the average age
No sign of that midfield change and at the moment the squad looks bottom 6 at best
Time to change that but Sullivan’s BEAK being poked in and links to players like Wilson doesn’t fill one with confidence

Even if Sullivan did initially have faith in Potter, his remit would have been at the very least to do a little better than the bloke he replaced. In the end he was worse. Maybe he does just need time, but it's a risk, and if he continues as before then it will cost a lot of money to replace him and fund new players in what will possibly be a relegation battle.

Hence, Potter is now on thin ice and has to prove himself worthy of being given much funding, even if that means making his task much more difficult.

So, basically a Catch-22.

I just can't let myself believe, given what has gone on  in the last couple of years, that he'll be thick enough to sign Wilson.

Aside from everything that is wrong with the signing, the worst bit of all is the cheeky cսnt has done nothing but slag our club off over the years.

Won't happen. Can't happen.
