Re: Potter Out
Nick on C & B might get things wrong but his rant on Saturday tells it like it is. Sullivan , Brady and board are called out and Potter is symptomatic of their 15 years of failure. He’s right about the football too.
Bilic will be a disaster. Nuno ball aint sustainable.
The 6 month appointment will reduce our pool of managers out of work to the desperate.
The least worst is Gary ONeill. Not low block football and kept B’Mouth and Wolves up with no money. Had a crap start in season 2 at Wolves, got 2 wins then sacked. Probably will fail but better than Bilic, Nuno imo. Nuno does not have Gibbs White, Anderson, Hudson Odio, Elanga exceptional speed and/or strength. He wont do what he did at Forest. GON looks like the only one who “might” “make a purse ( not silk mind ) from a rottimg pigs ear”.

Of course its about youth. Its about Potter not seeing that our youngsters are better options than the shit we have to endure week in week out from so called first team players.

That's about £100m we've paid for those 3. How much do you reckon they'll be worth once we get relegated and they want out?
At least the likes of Scarles, Potts and Earthy we won't be losing a fortune.
Nowhere near 100m quid. 80m tops. I reckon they'll be worth roughly what we've paid for them because they're all young and rated. If we played Potts, Earthy and Scarles we are much more likely to be relegated. Your argument is all over the shop.

Magassa will need some time. His stats in France were ridiculous. I am sure he will be good for us. But maybe Potts and him now have to battle it out. At least get a new manager in to do that assessment and make a call. What stats are they? From what i see last season the second half he hardly played. Think he had one 90 mins post xmas over there and got sent off in his final game. £20m on a CM who needs time when we have Potts, Fearon and Kante is everything that is wrong with us in a nutshell.
Potter's treatment of the youngsters has been so disappointing.
I can't bloody find it now. I read an article which analysed France's best midfielders in 2024/25 and for games played his averages for tackles, interceptions and line breaking passes put him in top five midfielders. He played 21 games for Monaco in 2023/24 and 23 in 2024/25.
Plus, he played in Champions League for Monaco and looked comfortable and assured.
I mean, you mention about time, but we have seen much more expensive and more experienced players take a while to get to grips with the PL.
But yeah, Potter's treatment of youngsters has been disappointing. Seems to be a trend at West Ham. Is it something within the club? I just think so many of our managers are under pressure they just feel too scared to use the youngsters.

Massive Attack" wrote: ↑21 Sep 2025, 19:10 He achieved nothing at Brighton which was what used to do my head in about debating the failure. The positive spin on his career would make Alastair Campbell blush.
All he ever did was do well for a shit Swedish Club in below average Leagues. Because it was a bit leftfield for a Brit to do well abroad, albeit in dogshit Leagues, it got made in to something impressive when in reality it wasn't all that impressive really.
In the Premier League he has been stealing a living and one that's made him filthy rich in the process for doing next to fuck all good in it.
Well, he did actually achieve alot at Brighton. He allowed them to create the blueprint they have today. He aligned them with a playing style that underpinned them so they could stabilise in the PL. He knew they needed players coached well but would, ultimately, sell their biggest stars and then he had to re-coach the players brought in. The managers at Brighton since he left have clearly benefitted from that early prototype which, as much as it hard to see now, was influenced largely by Potter. So to say he achieved nothing at Brighton is just being ignorant or disingenuous.
Like other's, I thought he was mental going to Chelsea as it was so toxic at that time. I don't think he lost much kudos going there and failing as it was a basket case. So thinking that he was a good coach, whilst I never advocated his appointment, I was quietly optimistic. But he has failed, in every department, and looks like he has no idea how to claw it back. We haven't been unlucky. We have been well beaten. And I think we were lucky to meet Forest at a time of instability....Otherwise we would not have that win.
He has to go. Now.

Sir Alf" wrote: ↑21 Sep 2025, 21:45 Like many, I liked the way he talked about the idea of working as a “team” and in his early days how he stopped the heavy defeats despite not getting many more if any points. Thought he had “stopped the bleeding” and we would see some improvement this season. But ultimately he, Macaulay and Sulluvan between them did not address the 5+ year old problem of lack of pace, athleticism and physicality ( especially midfield ) that restricts the squad to having to play low possession, low block football and relying on set pieces and counter attack football to score. We have not bern able to put a squad together to play any other way and now cant even be effective at set pieces with the exception of Bowen’s goal yesterday.
As others say on this thread, the Prem Lge now means having a fast, athletic central midfield and similar players in attack to play low or high possession based footbal effectively. We simply do not have enough if any of those players and the Potter tactics are past their sell by date. Its a very poor attempt at Pep style pissession but with technically and physically inferior players.
I have to assume / hope the delay in announcing his sacking is fown to getting the next man lined up? Potter is done, nothing will change using his tactics. The next bloke will has a tough challenge on his hands but hopefully uses youth, the Jan window and basic organising of the team to make us harder to score against especially at set pieces. That alone should halve the goals conceded. Fixing that midfield remains a priority but central defence aint far behind.
This season is already a write off with one objective… survival. I have zero faith in Sullivan to get it right and just hope that the laws of probability kick in and he gets a new manager or coach that can eek out 40 points. For me that probably means Nuno or O’Neill. Its hard to do worse than Potter and these two gave shown they havw some idea on the basics far more than Potter has.
We will waste another week but the inevitable defeat at Everton should see the change made
Fvcking depressing times at West Ham yet sgain.
Well, actually, they did solve that problem in Magassa and Fernandes. But Harry Potter keeps playing JWP.

More interested in stopping the protest than stopping the rot at the club is indeed very Sullivan.
He clearly doesn't want the media to do a public "drains up" on him.
What could he possibly have to hide?
