Why have so many posters left this site?

Post Big head »

Anyone speak to the usual mob who used to flood this place on a daily basis?

Me personally I had a kid, went through hell and back then started up back in Estate agency, so only really now got more time to post albeit now and then, mainly because it's so quiet on here now days.

Questions is what two posters would draw the biggest crowd?

I suspect many of the posters moaning about content/other posters are too scared to use the "foe" option in case they miss something.

You do appear to have misunderstood it. It's not about avoiding stick or any nonsense like that. I don't bicker with anyone. It's about  mass blocking content that you know will be absolute junk and not even worth skimming through however briefly.

Think about it as an easy way of avoiding reading a large pile of 8 year old's homework. Just not worth looking at even for a second.
Maybe it’s an age thing, but I’m quite happy scrolling away with my thumb ignoring half the bollocks posted by a few I can think of to focus on posts by people who I do like reading from.

I don’t have a rival on here or someone that bickers with me across posts, but if someone was responding to everything I posted with inane rot, I’d ignore it at worst or enjoy cunting them off.

And reminiscing about posters who’ve chosen to leave - They have real lives and might not be able to post on here, or they’ve suddenly got a life. I imagine that’s what happened with Manuel at least.

Yep!

Foe buttons are for wankers!

I echo the responses that a couple of people have made about the foe option. The foe facility, for me, is what makes this Board tolerable.

Interestingly on a bad day for bickering simply making two or three foes can  filter out more than 50% of what is being posted leaving sensible stuff undisturbed and readable.

Quite funny when people are saying that the return of posters that they hounded and trolled off the site is the answer.

I think you've done an excellent job on setting the site up.  It looks excellent and is easy to use as well as having a lot more features. I certainly appreciate it.  Modding forums/fora is not easy and its time consuming.  Gank was right, WHO phase 1 was the best in terms of moderation, even when it sometimes went a bit too far.  It was sometimes the most interesting and amusing thing on the internet that is vaguely football related.

Ricky Gervais on taking offence is a good guide.  Take the approach that you don't give a fuck if somebody is offended or upset.  Just strike out the genuine incitement, racism or porn

Here we go, It's all my fault. AG AG AG AG!

The truth is the country has gone to shit under Starmer's treasonous Gov't and it's awful policies which has made it impossible for the left wingers on here to debate or defend their retarded positions any more, which is why we don't hear from them any more. Couple that with the huge number of wins Trump is having globally and you get Crickets..........Which is nice!

The more the UK slides into anarchy and decay and the more wins Trump gets the more violent, angry and intolerant the fuckwits will become as they realize that I was right all along.

It can't be easy for one sunny day to realize just how fucking stupid he is, poor chap!

It's apparent that One Sunny Day is confusing his words, he is calling me racist when he should be calling me right.

That's right One Sunny Day, Donald Trump and Nutsin were right about everything!

Let that sink in!

I have found that the new 'foe' function is very handy at removing the majority of the really moronic content which does inevitably tend to come from the same few predictable sources.

Of course it does dramatically reduce what is left, but it improves the quality quite dramatically.

I consider this place my 'home' and I don't go anywhere else, but I often don't visit for weeks on end. I don't think there's anything wrong with the site; I just think the whole way we interact on the internet has changed and people have just drifted to talking about things on other platforms.

No, OSD, I don't think cancel culture is the way to improve the site.

If we're offering up suggestions, something I preferred before was that the top post of Page 2 was also the bottom post of Page 1, is it possible to reimplement that?

People come and go. Like pubs and clubs. You see people for years then they go and drink somewhere else.

I think I joined WHO in about 1995 I think. Probably posted every day (unless on holiday as I am not that sad a cսnt). Fucking madness. 30 years visiting the same forum. Scary.

Which bits of the layout, and do you access on mobile or tablet/pc?
The quoting someone else post, on some threads when you click last posted button or whatever it is, if a thread has had a lot of posts it doesn't take you to the last commented post.

When you open a thread, just go back to the old style in my opinion. A lot more user friendly.
Unfortnuately the 'old style' isn't possible, as it was a custom coded forum in an obsolete technology.  So we found a maintained technology and have customised the templates it uses to get as close as possible to the old layout, whilst bringing in some oft-requested features (like imges, direct quoting, etc).

If you can hover the buttons for me that aren't working and let me know the specific buttons are called if something is a bit wonky I can look into it.

Feel free to ping me with any observations or issues...some of these thinga can be setup user specific too.

Strange how, for whatever reason, some posters almost become "site furniture", almost a part of the site itself - something's "up" if they didn't post at least once a day.

Coffee was another and I hope he's simply too ill to post and nothing more serious.

Plenty of other regulars on here down the years, loved & hated, who have stopped posting and we have no real idea why.

I’m still here 👋

Expect most of us are older, was I’m my 30,s when I first joined WHO and now early 60,s expect we have lost a few to old age or disease and illness, a few we know about but others just disappear 😔

Younger fans maybe use tik tok and all that other younger generation malarkey 🤷‍♂️ Not sure how you attract more fans to WHO but targeting the over 50,s is maybe wise, can’t see those youngsters being interested in all the shenanigans that goes on, maybe too offensive for the poor lambs.

Has the ghost of Manuel appeared yet, he may have done a whoicide but can’t see him staying away, doubt any other site would tolerate him, so half expecting a “new” user to appear with the same MO! That should boost the daily posts, and cuntings of course 🤣…..
