We had election here for president of Ireland. To cut a long story short, the whole thing was a stitch up in that the only choice was between 2 lefty women (a male candidate withdrew because of a financial scandal, but remained on the ballot as they had already been printed - but he was a bit of a cսnt anyway).

Spoiled votes  213,000
Invalid votes for Bit of a cսnt 104,000 

The lefty woman won of course,  but the huge numbers of spoiled/invalid votes in a country this small - plus a very low turnout is interesting - it will all be brushed under the carpet and written off as far right I suppose.

9,000+ 'historic' grooming cases? That figure is mind-boggling, even if we go back 18 years from today, that averages out at (over) 500 per year, or 10 per week. How was it even possible to keep a lid on that without pressure from the highest authorities?

Go back over 36 years and that still equates to 5 abuse reports per week - one every single working day of the week, every year. Was Jimmy Savile in charge of the investigations?
