Another game at the soulless bowl. All eyes will be on the team selection in the first instance, with the hope that we revert to the Everton form, and purge the experimentation of the last two games.

Nuno seems to have confirmed that for him Paqueta is a fixture in the side at 10, so suggestions he might make way look impossible. Fullkrug remains sidelined. Earthy is back in contention, and Mavro remains on the sidelines. Ezra Myers and Fin Herrinck have been called up to train with the first team.

Predicted LineUp:

Areola

Wan Bissaka
Todibo
Kilman
KWP

Potts
Fernandes

Bowen (c)
Paqueta
Summerville

Wilson

Subs:
Hermansen, Igor, Diouf, Magassa, Irving, Soucek, Marshall, Earthy, Guilherme

Predicted Result:
More of the same seems likely, with them on form and another side with a powerful aerial presence.

West Ham 1 - 3 Newcastle

We actually looked like a cohesive unit for once and Wilson for the sixty minutes he played done what a centre forward should do

Workrate was superb and barring the goal we looked solid defensively kept the ball well and looked dangerous down the flanks

Soucek is a hard man to drop as his commitment to the cause is superb and you know he would run through brick walls for the club .

Bowen was probably my man of the match, worked his socks off and was very unlucky not to score

We got lucky with the own goal but maybe it's true that the harder you work the luckier you get.

Onwards and upwards

I would say I was disappointed that we seemed to sit back for much of the second half to defend the lead, but we know, I suppose, that Nuno is a Moyes-type manager and so it's to be expected. We were so good in the first half and it would have been good to continue the same way in the second and put it to bed earlier.
Nevertheless, a very enjoyable afternoon for a change.
Second half was understandable considering our fragility , but we didn't crumble and were relisient..that's massive for confidence.
The players showed they cared today....that's massive too.
Small steps and all that..good base to keep improving

Never saw that performance coming. I had written us off and the season but so glad to be wrong.  We fixed midfield and gave ourselves the platform to succeed. Could have got another 2 or 3 if everything had gone our way.  Aggression was the big difference and even the CBs looked assured. Potts and Fernandes were key.

Paqueta proved me wrong too. We were winning second balls and far more duels won than usual.

Midfield is usually where games are won and do it proved

It’s a low bar but easily our best performance of the season
Outstanding first half especially and a 2 or 3 goal lead wouldn’t have flattered
Sat back a bit too much in the second half but organised in defence & dealt with set plays for the first time this season
Much more effort and closing down
Especially in the first half I thought Freddie Potts was outstanding
More of the same & maybe we can get somewhere

Newcastle very average & glad to neutralise the big German by putting him in my Fantasy team

Yep me too. First time I've enjoyed a game for a long time.
Came away thinking " that's why I go" Had forgotten that feeling and thought I had lost my West Ham mojo.

Was a good game and we were excellent, really up for it.
Everyone played well, even Kilman & Todibo who I thought had his best game for us.
Credit obviously to Potts who was everywhere, the noise when he scored was great, shame it didn't count.
Was impressed by Fernandes & Diouf, first time I've seen them in the flesh.
Credit to the entire team for the effort and for coming back from the early setback.
Atmosphere picked up once we saw that the players were actually trying and playing well.
You could see how much it meant to them at the final whistle.

Playing this way will only result in relegation.

Hopefully Igor can defend, tackle and head because our current CB’s cannot. Potts should retain his place. Whilst Summerville is great coming forward he needs to learn to cover and defend. Time after time Newcastle overloaded Diouf.

We were lucky today.

How we started and got unlucky with Bowen's effort hitting the post before they go to the other end to score straight away, I thought we more than deserved some luck with that in mind. The Team didn't deserve that from how they approached the game throughout. Definitely a case of earning your luck with that level of desire to get a win. Very encouraging to see.
