Everton and West Ham make enquiries for Brazil international – 2026 World Cup place key

West Ham and Everton have made contact to explore a deal for Caio Henrique. However, the Brazil international has pushed back the Premier League interest for now.

The information comes from ESPN Brazil, who report that both clubs reached out to the player’s camp to understand the terms of a potential January move.

The defender is under contract with Monaco until 2027. ESPN explain that he does not intend to leave in the winter window.

He knows changing clubs at this stage could jeopardise his chances of making Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. His recent run in Ligue 1 has strengthened his position under Carlo Ancelotti, and he believes staying in France protects that momentum.

Everton and West Ham interest paused

Caio Henrique has been called up for Brazil’s last three international breaks. And he remains in direct competition for the starting left back role. This context adds weight to his decision.

Although West Ham and Everton are expected to reinforce their squads in January, the full back prefers stability as he targets a place on the World Cup list.

For now, any Premier League transfer talk is secondary to securing his place in Ancelotti’s plans.

“He Can Go” Nuno Gives Green Light as West Ham Winter Exodus Begins

West Ham have received an offer from a La Liga club for midfielder Guido Rodríguez, Claret & Hugh has learned this morning.

The Argentine is one of several players the club are looking to offload in the January transfer window. Contrary to some reports, interest in Rodríguez stretches back to the summer, when he declined a move to the Saudi Pro League.

At that time, Rodríguez and his agent were holding out for an offer from Mexico that never materialised, so perhaps he’ll be more open to a move on this occasion?

However, West Ham are unlikely to receive a transfer fee for the midfielder, who arrived on a free 18 months ago. The real issue is his salary—Rodríguez remains one of the club’s highest earners on well over £100,000 per week, a wage nobody outside Saudi Arabia is likely to match.

As with Niclas Füllkrug, the player will need to accept a pay cut in order to secure regular football elsewhere.

The situation highlights a wider problem: West Ham continue to pay premium wages to players who deliver very little, making it incredibly difficult to shift unwanted squad members and further exposing how poor the club’s recruitment has been.

Everton’s updated stance on James Ward-Prowse deal revealed by David Moyes ally

Everton have joined the race to sign West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse as he looks set for a move in the January transfer window.

That is according to former West Ham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 31-year-old has been identified as an option for David Moyes‘ side.

Football Insider revealed on 3 October that West Ham will accept offers for Ward-Prowse in January after he was excluded from Nuno Espirito Santo‘s plans for the future.

Since the boss’ arrival at the London Stadium in September, the midfielder has not been involved in a matchday squad, and plans are being put in place for his sale.

As a result, Everton are one of multiple clubs keeping tabs on his situation as they aim to bolster their squad during the January transfer window.

Everton plot move to sign James Ward-Prowse

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 20 November that Ward-Prowse could join Everton in January on loan with an option to buy.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and worked closely alongside Moyes during his time at West Ham, has insisted Moyes is interested in a reunion with the midfielder who he brought to the London Stadium.
