Paqueta Paqueta - Latest news

Post Alan »

"Sport Bible New report on Lucas Paqueta's spot-fixing charges reveals how much of next season West Ham star can play There has been an update on Paqueta's case. Alex Brotherton Lucas Paqueta will be free to play for West Ham for most of next season despite facing spot-fixing charges. Paqueta has been charged by the Football Association with four separate instances of spot-fixing. The 28-year-old stands accused of deliberately getting himself booked during four Premier League matches. It is one of the most serious cases of spot-fixing involving a top-flight player in England, and could land Paqueta with a lengthy ban. However, the Brazil international can continue to play until the disciplinary process has been completed. According to The Times, the outcome of the process could be delayed until the end of the 2024-25 season or beyond. That is due to the complexity of the case; Paqueta's lawyers say it will take many months to secure all the witness statements and relevant information they need for their defence. That's because the case spans three countries - England, Brazil and Spain - and involves a large number of people. The charges allege that Paqueta got himself booked during matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth over the past two seasons so that “one or more persons” could profit financially. The investigation that preceded the charges took eight months. In September 2023, Brazilian outlet Globo reported that suspicious gambling patterns were identified in Brazil relating to Paqueta being booked against Aston Villa in March that year. The bets were reportedly made using West Ham's shirt sponsor Betway, via accounts belonging to people linked to Paqueta. The FA initially gave the player until June 3 to respond to the charges, but his lawyers were granted an extension. English football's governing body has refused to put a timescale on the case. Paqueta has been linked with a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo this summer, but this latest development will give encouragement to new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui that he can use the midfielderthis season."

West Ham respond to Lucas Paqueta punishment decision over two proven breaches of FA rules
Lucas Paqueta was cleared of spot-fixing charges after a two-year investigation into allegations he deliberately received yellow cards in four different fixtures, which the West Ham man always denied

West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been sanctioned for breaching FA regulations and issued with a warning following two proven violations. Back in July, Paqueta was cleared of betting-related charges after a two-year probe into claims he intentionally picked up yellow cards across four separate Premier League matches.

The FA announced in September that they would not be challenging those verdicts, which the Regulatory Commission determined were not proven. Nevertheless, two violations of FA Rule F3, which are considerably less serious charges relating to non-cooperation with an investigation, were established against Paqueta.

According to the Regulatory Commission's statement, the Brazilian offered "no comment" responses to most questions during two FA interviews. The governing body issued a statement regarding his Rule F3 breaches.

The FA said: "An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned West Ham United FC's Lucas Paqueta for two proven breaches of FA Rule F3.

"The player denied two charges of failing to comply with a requirement to answer questions and provide information to The FA's investigation into breaches of the Rules. However, both breaches of FA Rule F3 were found proven following a hearing.

"The Regulatory Commission has imposed a reprimand and a warning as to future conduct on Lucas Paqueta, and its written reasons for this decision can be read below."

West Ham United also issued their own statement following the FA's announcement. The club stated: "West Ham United acknowledges the statement published by the Football Association today, confirming that Lucas Paquetá has received a warning as to his future conduct, following two proven breaches of FA rule F3, after he was cleared of misconduct charges made against him for alleged breaches of FA rule E5.

"West Ham United and Lucas Paquetá are pleased that this matter is now finally closed. The Club will be making no further comment."

Within documents outlining Paquetá's charges, the regulatory commission noted: "We recorded in the Liability Decision that at the interviews on 11 September 2023 and 10 November 2023 the Player attended and, for a large part of those interviews his stance, on legal advice, was to answer 'no comment' to the questions posed."

The commission added: "We accept that the Player was acting on advice at all times but, nevertheless, as a Participant he has an obligation to respect and abide by the Regulations," whilst acknowledging any "sanction would be at the lower end of the scale," most probably "a reprimand, coupled with a warning as to future conduct."

In August 2023, the FA initiated an investigation into the South American footballer, alleging his involvement in spot-fixing offences across four Premier League matches between November 2022 and August 2023.

It was never suggested that he had placed any bets himself, but it was alleged that his actions had benefitted friends and family in Brazil, who had wagered on him receiving a yellow card.

Should the verdict have been against him, he could have faced a lifetime ban. However, upon being cleared of these charges, he issued a personal statement: "Since the first day of this investigation, I have maintained my innocence against these extremely serious accusations.

"I can't say anything more at this time, but I would like to express how grateful I am to God and how eager I am to return to playing football with a smile on my face. To my wife who never let go of my hand, to West Ham United, to the fans who always cheered me on, and to my family, friends and the legal team who have supported me - thank you for everything."

I agree.  A hell of a lot of our fans were in the same boat as they are now with Paqueta as they were with the newly dubbed (by the media) SIGNING OF THE SEASON Kudus.

That one worked out well.

If it meant getting a decent striker and CB in Jan, Paqueta and Guilherme are the ones you might get some decent money for that are worth sacrificing . Paqueta does work hard at times and seems to care unlike a few but I'm sick of him trying the hollywood pass every single time when a simple pass is on. I can't believe we've had 4 managers and no one has told him to stop with this crap

That said if I was them I would want out ASAP! If Bowen stays he surely won't make the WC squad unless our form changes dramatically.

Given Sullivan’s incompetence and unwillingness to invest in more shares we will be told we have no money in January.
We need a striker with his own teeth and one or two centre halves
If that means selling Paqueta , Soucek & binning Fullkrug (glue factory?) so be it

Look at how triggering certain posters find it that I was correct YET AGAIN.

To think Man City were willing to pay £85 million for this chump a couple of years ago. Now we will barely get £15 million for him.

Plus we'd only sign someone shitter with the money.
The only reason he gets bums off seat is to stand up and scream at him to get the fuck up and track back or to moan he has given the ball away again

He really fucks me off the amount of times he does that. If you were to compare him to genuine shit hot skillful mavericks (which he likes to think he is) we've had like Di Canio, Payet, Joe Cole who would all rarely give the ball away.

He may have got his move to City but where he would have fitted in with Du Bruyne and Grealish having just had outstanding seasons. He would have to up his work rate, calmed himself down and his alround game. Any of his feigning injury and flaying arms would have seen him on the sidelines.

He can do the basics as good as anyone. But he wants everything to be Hollywood, the Brazilian in him I suppose. He doesn’t have the players around him to do that. If that City move had of happened, he’d have looked like a Rolls Royce in that team, but it didn’t, and here he is in a poor team, struggling to stay in the PL. Not what we need anymore.

Anonymous against us for Lyon... He only played one half in one game

A big part of us winning a trophy one of our best players in the competition, but you prefer to mention what he did when he wasn't playing for us, bizarre.
Granted the pass for Bowen to score the winner in the cup final was sublime but...........what else has he done to justify that price tag? He is a luxury player we are in a relegation battle......he would be as much use as a chocolate tea pot!

Did anyone actually believe he wanted to stay to "thank the club"?  If so I've got some magic beans for you.

Hes got some talent.  You dont get to regularly for brazil if youre dogshit.  But he's not played well aside from tiny moments for ages.  Hes always rolling around on the floor and giving the ball away.

Worst example was villa.  Decided he wanted a foul from their corner, so went down and was roling around instead of marking his player, who scored and the games turned in villas favourite last season after we were playing well.

He is one of the least deserving players to get a "song" in the history of our club.

Yet again you are an absolute shitcunt coyi.  Yet again you're claiming to be mystic fucking Meg calling every player out when signed just so you can claim to be a genius on an anonymous forum at a later date.

Love the way youre also claiming you warned everyone that summerville was shit when he signed when you actually claimed the opposite.

I don't think he's a Number 10, or certainly aint a quality one. DM or CM is where I'd see him played regularly but not just behind the Forwards.
