Re: VAR - What is it good for?
It's another tool for the FA to control who represents England in Europe and keep the status quo of the rich teams at the top. The fact that most of the referees come from the north west and those that don't originate north of Birmingham tells it all.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Nothing wrong with the concept, it's the clowns operating it, is the problem, just take a look at Rugby's version of TMO, works like a fucking dream.
Oh and they mic up the refs as well to explain to the crowd.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
As a reality check, Wolves put forward a proposal to scrap VAR just over a year ago and all the other 19 clubs voted against i.e. to continue with VAR.
Is the suggestion that the TV companies put pressure on the clubs to vote that way?
God knows why they see VAR as a positive for the game though.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
I think that most of the dimwits who were desperate for VAR to be brought in (Lineker for example) now accept it was a huge mistake.
The trouble is that the head honchos of TV sport seem to love it. And when it comes to football what TV wants, TV gets.
As we all now know they don’t give a fuck about the match day fans.

I preferred the game without VAR.
The loss of a good celebration is really fucked and takes incredible amounts of joy from watching the game. The injustice of a VAR error is massive compared to an on field ref making an error. VAR correcting an on field ref error is not enough compensation for these negatives.
When will the governing cunts realise?
...but it makes for "good" TV, and the media are the governing cunts.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Have said before if VAR was to continue …. I’d rather it didn’t … then this idea of the ref panel covering it has to go
You see refs often in pairs where a ref may swap the following week with his VAR pal & be judging each other the other way round
Refs will go with VAR so that next week his mate won’t barbecue him by rejecting his call
By my reckoning there ha

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Last night an on field ref. actually said no to VAR!
Denmark v Scotland. Last Scottish defender (Johnson) being challenged by a Dane went to head the ball but clearly controlled the ball with his upper arm. Ref. gave him a yellow and VAR said possible red and for ref. to have another look on the pitch side monitor. Ref. had a look and said no I was right it was a yellow.
Excellent progress.
Could this happen in the Premier?

Sven You're nuts if you seen what you have done with VAR and still think there's a possibility that it may work.

None of those Try harder Ex players know the tricks & have no relationship with the refs on the pitch

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Ex players? Like Jamie O'Hara, Garth Crooks, Darren Bent, Gabby Agbonlohar, Danny (not a penalty for me) Murphy, Glenn Murray, Jamie Carragher, Clinton Morrison, Gary Neville?"
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The diving twat Anthony Gordon was complaining about VAR not awarding him a penalty v Man Utd. I can see his point. Against West Ham, he only needs to stick his leg in front of someone and if contact is made it's a penalty. Against Man Utd, a player can make contact with his ankle and nothing is done. All VAR does is give another chance to favour the big six."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Well I think you would have some sort of vetting Would be plenty of ex League 1 or 2 players who know the game & could do with a job post playing Obviously former players of Premier league teams wouldn’t be involved with their own clubs The problem now is refs scratch each others backs as they don’t want to be thrown under the bus the next week Famously Mike Dean didn’t review something as his ‘mate’ was having a bad day

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"I keep seeing ex players should be involved. What's stopping them from being idiots? GABBY Agbonlahor has suggesting this before I switched the channel over this morning. He's as thick as pig shit. I see very little difference between what we have now, and what is being suggested with ex pros. I'd hate to have him reffing our games. People just need to admit to themselves that VAR is shit and will never work when there's human involvement."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Hopefully not the Spanish clown who did the home game v Leverkusen I’m sure Premier league refs are the highest paid in the world so they should open it to overseas refs Can imagine any outsider that came in wouldn’t be welcomed by the current Cartel of Cunts If VAR is to be retained it should be operated by a different group from the current refs …. retired refs, ex players etc"

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Get the top European refs in and dump our lot. No bias to certain clubs then. Hardly any issues with VAR in the Champions League.
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"A clear and obvious mistake which in all probability the ref himself has realised he made. Allow 20 seconds maximum, after all the ref makes his judgement on the spot it shouldn't take a room full of 'experts' and a machine longer than that."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The problem isn't the machine its the cunts in front of it, they must be acting under the instructions of the FA to keep their favoured darlings in the very profitable European places to prevent them setting up their own European super league. They already have it, free entry into the champions league courtesy of questionable refereeing."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"VAR is shit how it is being used at the moment, should forget all the stupid line drawing for a bootlace offside stuff and just use a screenshot that’s immediately shown to the fans for anything clear and obvious. The problem getting rid of it altogether is everyone will then be totally reliant on the incompetent and biased refs and Lino’s so it should be used to drive up the standard of officiating as well as anything clear and obvious."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The media will absolutely hate this idea and will roll out it's influencers in style to prove (PROVE), backed up by ""indisputable"" data, that VAR enhances viewer experience of the game (and, coincidentally advertiser & sponsor reach), conveniently overlooking the impact it has on those actually at and participating in the game itself."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Premier League clubs to vote on scrapping VAR on June 6 Any rule changes need a two-thirds majority - 14 of of the 20 clubs - to vote in favour. Hope they do it. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c4n1ndlknk1o

I don’t see the ending of VAR as getting the game back….they will just revert back to the previous bias the top clubs get.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"I have absolutely no interest or idea as to whether or not automated offside decisions will be an improvement on the current line drawing codswallop. Until VAR is dumped and we get our game back we, as the fans and supporters, will continue to endure a version of the game which is alien to our sporting heritage. The powers that be are truly clueless."
