Paqueta Paqueta - Latest news

Post Alan »

"Sport Bible New report on Lucas Paqueta's spot-fixing charges reveals how much of next season West Ham star can play There has been an update on Paqueta's case. Alex Brotherton Lucas Paqueta will be free to play for West Ham for most of next season despite facing spot-fixing charges. Paqueta has been charged by the Football Association with four separate instances of spot-fixing. The 28-year-old stands accused of deliberately getting himself booked during four Premier League matches. It is one of the most serious cases of spot-fixing involving a top-flight player in England, and could land Paqueta with a lengthy ban. However, the Brazil international can continue to play until the disciplinary process has been completed. According to The Times, the outcome of the process could be delayed until the end of the 2024-25 season or beyond. That is due to the complexity of the case; Paqueta's lawyers say it will take many months to secure all the witness statements and relevant information they need for their defence. That's because the case spans three countries - England, Brazil and Spain - and involves a large number of people. The charges allege that Paqueta got himself booked during matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth over the past two seasons so that “one or more persons” could profit financially. The investigation that preceded the charges took eight months. In September 2023, Brazilian outlet Globo reported that suspicious gambling patterns were identified in Brazil relating to Paqueta being booked against Aston Villa in March that year. The bets were reportedly made using West Ham's shirt sponsor Betway, via accounts belonging to people linked to Paqueta. The FA initially gave the player until June 3 to respond to the charges, but his lawyers were granted an extension. English football's governing body has refused to put a timescale on the case. Paqueta has been linked with a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo this summer, but this latest development will give encouragement to new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui that he can use the midfielderthis season."

Sullivan has probably already sounded out possible destinations to which he can hawk him. Possibly as soon as in the January window if he can't get the club's cash flow sorted.

He’s one of many liabilities now, so happy for him to leave.

He’ll always have a special place in my heart for that ball to Bowen in the Conference League final, but his career at West Ham has been more miss than hit in my opinion.

Fernandes will be much better playing behind the forwards in the centre, I can’t remember Paqueta playing well or influencing more than a handful of games.

In Spain there are many who would most certainly refer to him as Lucas Paquete 💩 with an e on the end.

A wonderful bit of slang for a word which means "parcel"

In fact for our Brazilian magnifico in his entire pitiful career he has never managed to produce double figures in creating assists. The highest he's ever managed to achieve in any season is 7 Assists in either England, France, Italy, Brazil. That says it all. £51M we spent on this.

I called out this showboating, diving, injury feigning prick from the start.

It truly makes me laugh how many imbeciles amongst our support still adore him and sing that cringe song about him they made up.

He is one of the least deserving players to get a "song" in the history of our club.

The last 2 seasons he has been awful. No assists.

The trouble is he is one of the few assets we have both from a skillwise and financial point of view. There really ain't many other options in our squad. It's that bad

Summerville? Nah, less tattoos and more football that's what I think whenever I see him running down blind alleys.

It's zero Assists mate. That suggests it's a lot more down to him when others are able to Assist in the Team in his absence.

Take Bowen for instance, he's already assisted 3 goals including 1 last night even though he was playing up top where Paqueta was. He also produced 10 Assists last season, just as he produced 10 the season before that.

So if a wide Forward can produce those kind of numbers off the scale, then the spotlight shines intensely bright on Paquetas lack of contribution in that department.

Is this prick for real? The main point of him being here is to create goals and chances for us and yet time and time again he fails to deliver big time. I'm not on about only being able to create 5 goals a season, I'm talking about 0 (zero) (nudda)!

25/26 - 10 apps - 0 Assists

24/25 - 36 apps - 0 Assists

23/24 - 43 apps - 7 Assists

Just 7 poxy Assists in 89 aappearances is a joke.

That's fucking outrageous, especially for a £51M record transfer signing on big money!

Even when he gets occasionally played up top in this nonsense false 9 and the best he can produce in front of goal is..

25/26 - 10 apps - 3 goals (1 being a Penalty won by someone else)

24/25 - 36 apps - 5 goals (2 being Penalties won by others again)

He also cannot hide behind convenient excuses anymore for this new season about charges hanging over him as that has now all been done and dusted and yet we still get the same dogshit form. It's a fucking piss-take what he's 'producing' for the Team and was arguably fortunate to stay on the pitch constantly arguing with the Ref.

This.  The whole thing was a farce

If it was a professional standard investigation, there will have been numerous points along the way which clearly suggested they had nothing to go on and should stop and admit defeat/withdraw their claim.

It is whoever insisted on keeping the investigation open at any/all of those points who should be named and shamed as they did nothing to enhance the impartiality claim the FA promotes.

A personal grudge, maybe? Doing your "bit" for the team you follow?
It appears to have been anything but a properly conducted investigation.  But we shouldn't be surprised should we ?  The F A have lots of previous  so expecting anything closel;y resembling a professional standard is out of the question.

I hope Paqueta takes legal action against the F A.  It's not just that he was denied the chance of a career defining move but more the distress it must have caused him whilst waiting for the verdict to be given.

Once again the F A have proved themselves utterly unfit for purpose,  Almost 2 years and for what ?

Paqueta’s transfer to Man City was agreed at £85m possibly including Cole Palmer coming to us at say £20m
Cole Palmer is now worth £135m so our net loss is £200m
Including additional costs & interest plus loss of European places let’s call it £300m and not speak of it again

The report is scathing about the FA’s investigation and their ‘case’ was destroyed by the evidence & the testimony of Moyes & Clattenburg
It was a disaster led by the then President of the FA who supports Aston Villa
Disgrace for a man whose Grandmother was a West Ham fan
Should consider his public position & remove he and his family from any further roles

It's the FA not the Premier League
The Premier League doesn't have a top table.
Yes, it does. At the top table sits the Chair and his (their) designated officers. His (their) principle responsibility at each regular meeting is to ensure that the agenda is followed in order.

Otherwise you might as well have 20 blokes down the pub all trying to shout over each other.

All sports governance is largely the same, this is just different due to the money involved. And even then, it pales into insignificance against the yank and Jap sports.

No washerwoman would hold much of a grudge against the Met Office for that. Irritation at the most.
